We are currently seeking an experienced HSE Engineer to join a major LNG development project based in Maputo, Mozambique, operating on a 28/28 rotation.
This opportunity is part of the Golfinho-Atum Project, a significant upstream development supporting the wider TotalEnergies LNG operations in Mozambique. The project involves complex drilling and construction activities both offshore and onshore, requiring robust HSE leadership and oversight.

Role Overview
Reporting to the Operations Safety Lead, the HSE Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of HSE systems across project activities.
You will play a key role in driving an incident-free culture, supporting contractors, and ensuring compliance with company and project HSE standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide HSE support and guidance to Company and Contractor teams to achieve zero harm objectives.
  • Ensure Contractor compliance with the Upstream HSE Plan, HSEMS, and contractual requirements.
  • Monitor and oversee HSE aspects of construction and drilling activities.
  • Lead HSE engagement with Contractors and Subcontractors, promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Participate in audits, safety reviews, risk assessments, MoC processes, and safety studies.
  • Review and support safe systems of work (PTW, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessments, Toolbox Talks).
  • Support incident investigations, ensuring robust root cause analysis and lessons learned.
  • Monitor HSE performance and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Oversee high-risk operations including:
    • Heavy lifting activities
    • Transportation safety (high movement logistics)
    • Offshore drilling operations
  • Steer indirect HSE teams from Contractors and Subcontractors during project execution.
Candidate Profile
  • Minimum 5 years’ HSE experience within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Recognized HSE qualification.
  • Proven experience in HSE audits, investigations, and contractor management.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and high-risk project environment.
  • Fluency in English (mandatory).
  • Valid BOSIET and OGUK Medical certification.
  • Experience in LNG, offshore drilling, or major construction projects is highly desirable.
