Description:
Senior HSE Design Specialist to support roll-out of new Engineering Design Risk Management process providing training in Design Risk Assessment processes and tools as well as general Safety by Design support to our Engineering scopes within our windfarm projects.
The HSE Design Specialist supports all business units, all packages, with Subject Matter expertise related to product design and its hazards and risks to health, safety and environment. He/She works throughout the value chain in both Development, the Asset Project and Generation and provide support according to own HSE Design and stakeholders’ processes such as the process for running Safety by Design in Engineering. Main goal for the role is with use of qualitative and quantitative risk assessments and from an ALARP principle to ensure the most safe and sustainable workplaces in an acceptable quality for the client assets with the use of knowledge of both international and national standards, legislation, contractual requirements as well as industry best practice. He/She trains internal stakeholders and suppliers in Safety by Design processes and principles, tools and templates.

Development stage:
o Provide QHSE subject matter expertise and work as active member ofnLever projects both in the field assisting with trials, providing data, giving input to assessments and writing HSE related parts of reports
o Follow and influence new generation of fleet throughout the TRA track
o Develop and maintain the generic contractual HSE technical requirements
o Define project specific HSE technical requirements for new contracts

Asset Projects:
o Participate in contractual supplier negotiations
o Participate as subject matter expert on safe design in risk assessments, 3D design reviews, design workshops (HAZID/HAZOP), FMEA, HSE maturity assessments, compliance assessments, product walkdown/inspections
o Provide health, safety and environment related input to design risk assessments
o Produce HSE documentation such as Confined Space Assessments, Rescue Concepts, Evacuation Plans, Fire and Explosion Assessments
o Participate in First Article Inspections (FAIs)
o Defining residual design-related QHSE risks for transfer to Operations
o Participate in Lessons Learned sessions and ensure these are transferred to future projects via Engineering and updates of contractual requirements

Operations:
o Do HSE compliance assessment of existing products and retrofits
o Assess feasibility of retrofit designs related to both standard and local legislations
o Participate as QHSE design project member in Innovation projects
o Train in Safety by Design processes and principles, tools and templates

Requirements:
o Education: Relevant technical background, i.e. Process Safety Engineer or Design / Product Engineer
o Recommended minimum 5 years of relevant and practical work experience within the wind industry or Oil & Gas
o Experience and actual application of design risk management principles including actual use of both qualitative and quantitative design risk management tools and templates like design risk assessment, HAZID, HAZOP, design decision log, bow-tie, event-tree
o Knowledge of design standards, Machinery Directive
o True QHSE role model with a co-operative and a solution-oriented attitude
o Good communication and training skills and able to write and speak English fluently
o Caring an honest, motivator with a human touch
