HSE Advisor - E&P Company - Operational Environment Impact

Great opportunity for an experienced HSE Advisor to work for a small E&P Company in London with a particular emphasis on operational environmental impact.

The key objectives of the role are:

  • Ensuring that all HS&E work undertaken for the company complies with HS&E legislation, company policies and objectives.
  • Assisting the Head of HSE in advising all company employees on aspects of HSE.
  • Assisting in maintaining, enhancing and implementing the company HS&E and Business Management Systems.
  • Assisting in providing HSE support to exploration, developments and production operations activities.
  • Play a key role in ensuring that out plans and operations are BAT and BEP.
  • Responsible as principal Environmental focal point.

Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Preparing and submitting applications using BEIS's UK Energy Portal Environmental Tracking System (PETS), securing approval of permits and consents in respect of exploration, development, survey and operations offshore activities.
  • Quarterly and annual reporting to Regulators
  • Assisting in monitoring on-going HSE activities for production operations, including liaison with BEIS, the contracted Well Operator & Installation and Pipeline Operator (where appropriate) to ensure compliance with permits, UK Legislation and company Policy.
  • Providing advice on environmental management and compliance
  • Assisting in monitoring on-going HSE functions for exploration, survey and drilling activities including contractor selection, review of contractor procedures / plans.
  • Assisting in monitoring on-going HSE functions for development activities including contractor selection, review of engineering deliverables, contractor procedures / plans.
  • Conducting internal / external audits, technical / HSE reviews and management reviews
  • Assisting in developing log's BMS and SEMS to ensure that they are fully documented and kept up-to-date and providing advice to others on implementing systems and procedures.
  • Assisting in occupational health and safety for staff, including risk assessments, HSE training, etc.

Your skills and experience will include:

  • 10 to 15 years' plus experience working for UK based offshore oil & gas industry
  • Advanced knowledge of environmental activities for the offshore oil & gas industry
  • Advanced knowledge of environmental legislation and guidance for the offshore oil & gas industry
  • Advanced knowledge of PETS including MAT and SAT management and EEMS
  • Presenting and participating at meetings with government / NGOs / partners and contractors / company head office
  • Advanced knowledge of setting policy, developing and maintaining health, safety & environmental management systems
  • Intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Advanced knowledge of safety and environmental management principles and ISO45001 and ISO 14001 standards
  • Advanced knowledge of quality management principles and ISO 9000 standards
  • Experience in liaising with BEIS / OGA / EA and non-government organisations

In addition, you will be degree qualified and ideally be a member member of a related professional institute, possess a NEBOSH certificate and be willing to travel offshore when required.

Preferably you will also have:

  • Advanced knowledge of health, safety and environmental activities required for the offshore oil & gas industry
  • Advanced knowledge of UK legislation and guidance for the offshore oil & gas industry
  • Experience in liaising with partners and contractors
