Reporting To: DW OSE Superintendent

Context and Environment This position is part of a large-scale onshore oil and gas development located in a remote and environmentally sensitive area in Uganda. Operations include multiple drilling pads and complex production systems, conducted in a multicultural environment under stringent HSE and operational standards.

Role Purpose The DW OSE Coach Rigless is responsible for promoting and maintaining a strong Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) culture across rigless operations. The role focuses on coaching, mentoring, and supporting site teams and contractors to ensure that safe working practices are consistently applied and continuously improved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and demonstrate visible leadership in HSE performance across all rigless sites.
  • Coach and guide rig and contractor crews on hazard identification, risk prevention, and compliance with operational procedures.
  • Support teams in the effective use of Safety Observation Cards (SOC) and job packages.
  • Oversee the quality and consistency of rig site safety inductions and ensure compliance with training requirements.
  • Work closely with the OSE Superintendent and contractors to develop and implement HSE improvement plans.
  • Conduct regular safety audits of contractor and service company systems, ensuring findings are tracked and addressed.
  • Contribute to incident analysis (Cause Tree Analysis) and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
  • Share best practices between rigless sites to strengthen overall safety performance.
  • Ensure that operations align with internal standards, local regulations, and international codes of practice.
Qualifications & Experience Education:
  • Minimum 3 years university degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • HSE background preferred; drilling and wells operations experience highly valued.
Certifications (preferred):
  • Risk & Human Factors
  • Cause Tree Analysis
  • Environmental Operations & Oil Spill Response
Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar position within Drilling & Wells operations.
  • Strong operational background with a proven ability to coach and motivate field personnel.
  • Experience conducting safety audits and implementing performance improvement actions.
Skills:
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Sound understanding of HSE management systems and operational risk control.
  • Capable of working effectively in a remote, multicultural environment.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
