HRIT Project Manager (Application SME – HR)

We have a current opportunity for a HRIT Project Manager based in Aberdeen. This has been released on a 12 month PAYE contract 

The IT Project Manager for Human Resources Systems (HRIT Project Manager) is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing IT projects that support HR functions such as workforce management, payroll, talent management, benefits, recruiting, learning, etc. This role ensures that HR technology solutions (currently SuccessFactors and SuccessFactors Payroll) are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end to end delivery of HR system implementation, upgrades, integrations, and enhancements.
  • Define project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including HR, IT, Finance, vendors, and consultants.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Monitor and report project progress to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects adhere to Project Management Office (PMO) standards, governance, and change management protocols.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Partner with HR leadership to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Facilitate workshops, requirement-gathering sessions, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Manage communication between business, IT teams, and vendors.
Vendor & AMS Governance
  • Act as day‑to‑day interface to AMS and ISVs (e.g., Accenture): prioritise backlog, agree estimates/timelines; manage SOWs, SLAs, KPIs and Service Improvement Plans.
  • Serve as the functional SME and L3 escalation: triage complex issues and direct AMS/vendors to resolution.
Technical Oversight
  • Oversee system configuration, data migration, integration, and testing efforts.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with company policies and legal regulations (e.g. GDPR).
  • Support the design and deployment of interfaces between HR systems and other enterprise applications (ERP, finance, etc.).
Process Improvement
  • Recommend best practices to optimize HR processes through technology.
  • Evaluate and implement automation, reporting, and analytics tools to improve HR decision-making.
  • Conduct post-implementation review and identify lessons learned and opportunities for improvement.
Role Dimensions
  • High‑visibility delivery across core HR processes (recruiting, onboarding, compensation, performance, learning, payroll).
  • Cross‑functional environment with internal teams and external vendors/consultants; multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Operates within PMO standards and governance, accountable for timely status, risk and financial reporting.
Role Requirements
  • 5 – 8 years of experience managing IT projects, with at least 3 years focused on HR systems.
  • Proven experience with HR systems, SuccessFactors and SuccessFactors Payroll.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certification preferred.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
  • Solid understanding of HR business processes such as recruiting, onboarding, compensation, performance management, payroll, etc.
  • Proficiency in system integration, data migration, and reporting tools.
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment
