Location: North Chicago, IL
Schedule: Hybrid Onsite (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM CST)
Contract Length: 6 months (with potential extension up to 18 months)

Orion Group is seeking an energetic, motivated HR professional to join our pharmaceutical client’s HRConnect People Experience team as an HR Specialist!
This role is part of their centralized HR and Payroll support organization, focused on delivering an exceptional employee and manager experience.
The position will be based onsite in North Chicago, IL, supporting employees and managers across Poland and Italy as part of our EMEA HRConnect team. This is a fast-paced, customer-focused role ideal for individuals who are eager to learn, take initiative, ask thoughtful questions, and take ownership of their work.
This role is not eligible for direct conversion, as it is a maternity leave backfill. However, high-performing contractors are encouraged to apply for future FTE openings should they become available.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee and manager HR inquiries across HR, Payroll, Benefits, Talent, and related services
- Answer general HR questions and appropriately redirect or escalate inquiries as needed
- Open, document, and manage HR cases using ServiceNow and Workday
- Guide employees and managers through HR Employee Self-Service and Manager Self-Service transactions
- Execute select HR transactions (e.g., data changes) or escalate to Tier II Functional Specialists when required
- Leverage standard operating procedures, scripts, policy manuals, and knowledge databases to resolve inquiries
- Collaborate closely with local Business HR partners to resolve cases and support continuous process improvement
- Accurately document all interactions, transactions, and resolutions in case management systems
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, workshops, and ad hoc projects as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Fluency in Italian (professional business environment)
- Fluency in Polish (professional business environment)
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 1+ years of experience in Human Resources
- 1+ years of experience in Customer Service, preferably in a call center or shared services environment
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and team-building skills
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting HR service delivery or shared services environments
- Familiarity with HR processes, HRIS tools, and case management systems
- Experience working with Workday and/or ServiceNow
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized processes
- Comfortable navigating multiple systems and applications simultaneously
- Ability to recognize when and how to escalate issues appropriately
Interview Process
- Interview Format: One 45-minute panel interview via Microsoft Teams
- Two to three additional managers (TBD), including global partners from Poland and Italy
- Interview Hours: Between 7:00 AM – 9:30 AM CST (to align with global stakeholders)
