Our client is a currently recruiting for the position of Head of Supply Chain & Logistics based in Aberdeen. This will require an upstream operator background. This is a senior, strategic position. 
 
The Head of Supply Chain and Logistics is accountable for the strategic leadership and operational excellence of all supply chain, procurement, and logistics activities across the oil and gas value chain. The role ensures reliable, safe, and cost-effective provisioning of materials, equipment, services, and logistics support to operations, while maintaining full compliance with HSSE, regulatory, and contractual requirements. The Head of Supply Chain & Logistics will lead a combined department of around 80 and will be essential in transforming two successful legacy organizations into the UKCS leading upstream company.
 
Change & Transformation
  • Lead the transformation and integration of supply chain and logistics activities across legacy organisations, establishing a unified operating model, standardised processes, and consistent ways for working to drive efficiency, transparency, and performance.
  • Develop and implement an integrated supply chain and logistics strategy aligned to business objectives, production plans, and industry best practice, ensuring alignment across executive stakeholders and enabling long term value creation.
  • Drive supply chain standardisation, optimisation, and localisation strategies where applicable
 
Leadership & Strategy
  • Act as a senior leadership team member, providing strategic advice and insight on supply risk, cost, performance, and capacity planning
  • Set the strategic direction and organisational priorities for supply chain and logistics, establishing clear expectations, shaping critical technical and leadership capabilities, driving performance management, and fostering a strong culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all sites and operations
  • Actively promote a strong safety culture across suppliers and logistics partners.
Negotiation and management of contracts, maintaining strong supplier relationships and ensuring reliability supply of materials and services
 
Supply Chain & Logistics
  • Provide strategic oversight and direction for onshore and offshore logistics operations, including marine and aviation
  • Enable asset integrity, drilling, projects, and operational uptime through robust supply continuity and risk management
  • Establish and oversee end-to-end supply chain activities including strategic sourcing, procurement, material planning, inventory management, warehousing, and distribution
  • Set the strategic approach and framework for supplier selection, prequalification, contract negotiations, and performance management in line with company and industry standards
 
Risk & Compliance
  • Define the governance and assurance approach across all supply chain and logistics activities for compliance with HSSE standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for customs, import/export, dangerous goods, and cross-border movements
  • Development of contingency plans to mitigation disruptions, shortages and other supply chain risks
  • Manage contract risk, variations, and claims in collaboration with Legal and Commercial teams
 
Business Partnering and Performance
  • Shape and oversee the financial strategy for supply chain and logistics, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimisation. Ensure effective management of equipment, materials, and project-related procurement
  • Establish and oversee performance measurement frameworks, ensuring effective KPIs for delivery, costs, supplier performance, and operational readiness
  • Provide clear communication and reporting to executive leadership on performance, risks, and improvement initiatives
  • Lead value creation and cost optimisation initiatives that deliver measurable cost savings without compromising safety or reliability
  • Work closely with Operations, Drilling, Projects, Maintenance, Finance, HSSE, and Commercial teams to shape the business requirements roadmap ensuring more proactive supply chain management and optimisation of value
 
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Strong strategic and operational leadership within oil and gas supply chains
  • Deep knowledge of upstream logistics and procurement
  • Expertise in HSSE, regulatory compliance, and risk management
  • Commercial acumen, creative thinking and strong contract negotiation skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in complex, high-risk, and fast-paced environments

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
 
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Logistics, Business, or related discipline
  • Significant experience of progressive supply chain experience within the oil and gas industry, including senior leadership roles
  • Proven experience supporting drilling, production, maintenance, and major projects
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. SAP) and supply chain analytics tools
  • Professional certifications (CIPS, CSCP, CPIM)
