We currently have an opportunity for Head of Rotating Equipment role. This is a contract role based in Qatar Onshore.
 
Position tittle: Head of Rotating Equipment
Contract duration: 36 Months
 
Job Purpose
Responsible for overseeing Machinery engineering discipline and FEED/EPC Contractor in delivery of all aspects of rotating equipment/machinery design to ensure technical objectives are met within the approved scope, budget and schedule. Ensures technical requirements such as project specifications, data sheets, procedures, etc.
 
Job Context & Major Challenge(s)
Position is located either in Doha (QNT) or in Project Site Offices (Field Operations Centre) in Ras Laffan, Qatar.
This position is dynamic and requires high commitment and responsibility to ensure all technical activities associated with the machinery engineering discipline, and all third parties such as vendors, consultants, sub-contractors etc are executed to NFW Project’s specifications and QELNG requirements.
This could involve technical evaluations, including risk-based evaluation of complex engineering issues, resolution of machinery related matters with significant project execution and/or commercial impact to ensure optimum outcomes that meet technical and execution expectations.
Major challenges for this role include (1) effectively guiding FEED and EPC contractor, including vendors and subcontractors and pre-comm/comm team to produce timely deliverables to meet project milestones (2) maintaining constructive working relationship with FEED/EPC contractor, including
vendors and subcontractors to ensure delivery and execution of work scope in accordance with project specifications/requirements. (3) maintaining good relationships with stakeholders (e.g., SMEs from IOCs, Operations, quality, engineering, construction) to ensure alignment of rotating equipment work
execution
 
Key Job Accountabilities
Demonstrate personal SHES leadership and excellent SHES behaviours at all times. Perform as a safety leader through setting and exhibiting the highest safety standards of behaviour and actions to the workforce. Actively participate in Toolbox Talks, Task Instructions and site safety
walkthroughs during construction phase.
Ensure machinery engineering activities are conducted in accordance with local regulatory/RLIC requirements, codes and standards, project specifications and industry practices. Ensure that Contractors/Subcontractors are conducting machinery engineering design in accordance with project requirements, specifications, and safe practices.
Resolve machinery related discipline issues timely to ensure engineering designs meet NFW Project’s expectations and objectives.
Ensure approved machinery design recommendations and programs are utilized by the Project to improve design integrity, reduce inefficiencies, and maintain high safety and risks standards.
Steward Contractors’ machinery related design and execution activities in accordance to specifications, verify adequacy of Contractor resources and personnel competency for the
tasks, employment of appropriate tools including use of approved technical software.
Coordinate and analyse discipline issues for resolution. Provide machinery engineering input to other engineering disciplines, construction, procurement, Quality etc as necessary. Support
FEED, commissioning and system completion activities and make appropriate recommendations to management on rotating equipment discipline matters.
Tracking and reporting of lessons learned in defined area of responsibility.
Monitor Contractor progress within the area of responsibility
 
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
 
Knowledge and/or Experience
10 years’ experience in Engineering roles, including 6 years in the Oil & Gas industry, and including 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or acting role, or oversight of contractor/ subcontractors/ service/ vendor personnel.
Extensive experience with Oil & Gas Companies, EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, or service companies involved in the oil and gas industry.
Experienced and competent in managing all phases of project execution including start up and handover, and managing technical issues.
Broad knowledge in project planning, scheduling, cost control, project gating system, project execution plan, risk management, change management, interface management, commissioning, and hand over
processes/procedures.
Strong knowledge across engineering disciplines, international engineering standards, specifications, design, and execution methodologies.
Experience with risk assessment approach in decision making.
Good knowledge in project planning, gate reviews, scheduling, cost control, change management, etc.
Experience in contract management, negotiations, and managing contractors.
Experience in high pressure pumping system and Design Approach 2 Studies model and analyse pulsation study.
Plus have been working within a rotating equipment Vendor/Manufacturer
