Orion is supporting a major LNG producing asset in Mozambique in the recruitment of a Head of Maintenance to join the Operations leadership team.
This is a senior operational leadership role responsible for managing all preventive and corrective maintenance activities across the plant to ensure technical integrity, reliability and availability of equipment.
The role covers subsea systems, LNG trains, utilities, offsites, storage and loading facilities.
Role Purpose To manage all necessary preventive and corrective maintenance activities and overhauls across the MZLNG plant, ensuring safe, reliable and cost-effective operations while maintaining technical integrity and required availability of equipment Head of Maintenance

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate all maintenance activities across the plant
  • Ensure safe execution of maintenance operations in line with HSE standards
  • Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance programmes
  • Oversee major planned overhauls and mid-/long-term planning
  • Drive root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives
  • Ensure effective use and governance of CMMS systems
  • Control and manage maintenance budgets (Opex & Capex)
  • Monitor maintenance expenditures and report on variances
  • Coordinate closely with Production and upstream operations
  • Develop and lead a large multidisciplinary maintenance team
  • Ensure development and performance management of personnel
Service Dimensions
  • Direct Reports: Approximately 150
  • Financial Dimension: Approximately USD 80M 

Technical Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of oil & gas / LNG maintenance operations
  • Extensive experience with industrial gas turbines (e.g. GE Frame 7, Siemens SGT800)
  • Experience with large rotating equipment (compressors, expanders, pumps)
  • Knowledge of LNG loading systems and hydraulics
  • Familiarity with international instrumented safety systems standards
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards (including ATEX / Ex)
  • Experience with maintenance SAP / CMMS systems
  • Strong understanding of international codes and standards
Qualifications & Experience
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Rotating, Instrumentation/Control or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 20 years maintenance experience within oil, gas or petrochemical industries
  • Minimum 10 years in senior maintenance leadership positions
  • Minimum 10 years in LNG producing plants (not LNG terminals)
  • Demonstrated leadership of large operational teams
This is a critical leadership position within a large-scale LNG producing asset and offers the opportunity to shape plant reliability and maintenance performance during operations.
