Role Overview

The Head of Contracts is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership in post-award contract management for a major onshore energy project.
This role oversees all commercial, contractual, and claims management aspects of a large-scale EPCC contract, ensuring alignment with corporate governance, risk management, and value protection strategies.
The position requires a strong commercial and legal background, hands-on experience in EPC project environments, and the ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver project objectives on time, safely, and within budget.

Requirement / Qualification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, or Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in multi-billion lump-sum major energy projects (post-award) in a similar position.
  • Experience in project management, construction, or project control is an advantage.
  • Strong influencing and leadership skills with proven team management experience.
  • Solid business acumen with an understanding of commercial risks and cost management.
  • Experience in legal, dispute, and claims resolution is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce well-structured commercial correspondence.
  • Strong interpersonal and coordination skills, capable of working within multi-disciplinary and multicultural teams.
  • Demonstrates continuous improvement mindset, balancing quick wins with long-term strategy.
Responsibilities
  1. Lead the contract subteam responsible for managing a multi-billion EPCC contract to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective project delivery.
  2. Provide commercial and contracting direction related to the management of EPCC contracts from post-award to close-out.
  3. Deliver the Value Protection Plan and oversee the change order management process to ensure maximum value and compliance.
  4. Support and contribute to establishing a Major Projects Contract Center of Expertise, promoting knowledge-sharing and adoption of best practices.
  5. Collaborate with Supply and Legal to manage claims and dispute resolution in accordance with corporate governance.
  6. Develop post-award contract management strategies and scenarios for the NFS Onshore project.
  7. Coordinate contract evaluations and close-out activities per company procedures.
  8. Provide central coordination for all contractual responses to EPC contractors and ensure alignment across project teams.
  9. Maintain strong communication with Legal, Risk, and Finance to address contractual issues and mitigation strategies.
  10. Support the Contracts Division and Business Managers in managing claims, preparing analysis, and delivering actionable insights.
  11. Contribute to digital transformation and continuous improvement initiatives within the major projects function.
  12. Recruit, mentor, and develop contract professionals, fostering a strong talent pipeline aligned with organizational goals.
