Our client is a North Sea operator currently recruiting for the position of Geomechanics Specialist, based in Aberdeen, on a 12 month PAYE contract.

Responsibilities:
- Provide geomechanics specialist technical support to company operated and non-operated portfolio of assets, projects and wells including drilling operations and well abandonments.
- Responsible for effective delivery of integrated geomechanical analysis (e.g. fracture gradient prediction, borehole stability, compaction and subsidence, sand failure assessment, waterflooding and polymer injection, well stimulation, top-seal integrity, underground venting etc).
- Deliver high quality geomechanical technical work as individual contributor including in support of well planning, design, execution and well abandonments.
- Provide support for ongoing offshore well activities where required outside normal office hours (e.g. weekends, evenings).
- Plan, co-ordinate and review work completed by 3rd parties (e.g. consultancies) including geomechanical studies, rock mechanics testing programmes and 3D modelling.
- Represent company as a technical specialist and reviewer in the defined area of expertise acting as discipline expert for Geomechanics.
- Manage relations with a large variety of internal and external stakeholders for assets, projects and wells as well as other operating companies and service providers.
- Provide technical coaching and knowledge transfer to other staff including from other subsurface and wells related disciplines.
- Demonstrate a strong focus on safety including process safety and other HSSE aspects (incl. risk management).
- Actively identify new and novel approaches that enhance efficiency and business impact on behalf of the Geomechanics discipline.
Experience & Qualifications:
- A University degree in a Geomechanics or equivalent Geoscience or Engineering discipline; post-graduate degree at Masters or PhD level preferred.
- Significant experience working within, or in support of, an operating company in oil and gas upstream.
- Proven track record and direct experience in well planning, design and abandonment execution and specifically in related to Geomechanics (incl. fracture gradient prediction, borehole stability, sand failure assessments, water injection and well stimulation).
- Prior experience of acting as Geomechanics technical reviewer and providing QC/QA of geomechanical technical studies and modelling.
- Composed, analytical and decision focussed under operational pressures with a strong safety first mindset. Ability to make technical recommendation and accountable for decision making.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English with strong focus on collaboration and integration.
- Technical coaching with experience leading geomechanical technical work, modelling and/or integrated subsurface studies.
- Experience within UKCS and in particular High-Pressure High-Temperature (HPHT) fields, depleted reservoirs, heavy oil and/or water injection would be advantageous.
- Knowledge and experience of 3D subsurface geomechanical modelling would be an advantage.
- Knowledge and experience of IT tools such as Techlog/Stabor, Jewelsuite, Geoactive, SandPredictor, Stimplan preferred.
