Great opportunity to work for a Major Energy Company at their fuel storage terminal in Hemel Hempstead as an Operations Support Supervisor. Fuel terminals are at the heart of the business responsible for transporting millions of litres of fuel across the country to the Company's 1200 forecourts.

The Operations Support Supervisor (OSS) is an exciting new role which has 2 key responsibilities:

1) Supporting the on-site leadership team in the continuous improvement of the safe and reliable operation of the terminal including training, assessment and procedure development (approx. 75%). This includes:

* Support the training and assessment of terminal Operators and Supervisors

* Write and update terminal procedures and risk assessments

* Participate in and lead terminal safety and operations meetings

* Ensure compliance and regulatory requirements in relation to health, safety and environmental performance

* Terminal focal point for meeting fuels quality standards

* Prepare and issue Permits To Work for contractors working on site

2) Providing support cover for Shift Supervisors (approx. 25%). When providing cover, you will ensure the safe handling of all fuels and additives received, stored and distributed at the terminal, in line with Group safety standards and legislation. This includes:

* Lead the day-to-day operation of the terminal, supervising a small team of operations and maintenance colleagues

* Be accountable for the safety and well-being of all on-site personnel, whilst on shift

* Operate a computerised control room governing the flow of fuel in and out of the terminal

* Ensure the safe condition and operation of plant and equipment

* Be initial on-scene incident commander in the unlikely event of an emergency

What kind of person are we looking for?

My client provides comprehensive training and assessment prior to going on shift, ideal candidate will have

* A passion for continuously improving safety standards

* Energy, enthusiasm, initiative and a can-do mentality

* Strong communication skills and experience of dealing with a diverse range of people

* Experience of working in a hazardous process industry, both on the plant and in a control room environment

* Ability to work within a small team in a 24/7 365 day per year operation

* Supervisory experience including Control of Work / Permit to Work systems

* Safety and environmental risk and legislation awareness

* Ability to assess and document safety risks, mitigation measures and procedures

* Knowledge of IT systems used within a process industry/logistics environment

* 5 GCSEs or equivalent, Grade C or above including Maths and English

* Be within a 45 minute commute of Hemel Hempstead
