Our Client, a global industry leader supplying products to the wind/energy, industrial, automotive and aerospace sectors is currently recruiting for the role of a Financial Controller.

Reporting to Corporate Controlling, you will be responsible for all financial matters relating to the two UK based production facilities. The position focuses on site controlling, general/ cost accounting, consolidation or taxes as well staff recruitment, training and development within the area of responsibility.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assuring a professional and accurate controlling at a local level
  • Developing and administering local analysis and reporting procedures and effective flow of information required for operational planning (OMP) and ongoing monitoring.
  • Counselling and supporting local management with the development and execution of strategy and the delivery of a strategic plan for the assigned area.
  • Managing general or cost accounting/ consolidation/ tax activities on a local level.
  • Assuring preparation and reporting of results including necessary analyses and advice to aid in the identification or resolution of problem areas and in planning and decision making.

Site controlling:

  • Initiating, carrying out, coordinating, supporting Operational Management Process (OMP) including annual budgeting on local level, monitoring milestones and priorities and initiating corrective measures as required
  • Collecting, analysing and interpreting financial performance
  • Monitoring competitive environment, coordinating with Group Accounting and Treasury.
  • Carrying out/ coordinating routine controlling of operational issues on a monthly basis; reporting key figures to BL and local management
  • Coordinating the IS function to ensure proper procedures and controls over systems
  • Ensuring a proper internal control system is maintained and adhered to
  • Assisting in driving savings and improvement initiatives

General accounting:

  • Supervising, planning and preparing financial statements
  • Establishing medium-term planning (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow)
  • Taking corrective measures if deviations from the budget occur
  • Ensuring, supervising and monitoring proper accounting for sub-ledgers (e.g. accounts receivables, accounts payables, fixed asset accounting, etc.)
  • Ensuring the orderly audit, recording and payment of incoming invoices
  • Maintaining and updating the respective SAP modules

Cost accounting:

  • Ensuring proper cost accounting in line with policies and guidelines.
  • Ensuring/ carrying out the proper organisation and completion of operative planning and medium-term planning as well as budget control
  • Preparing controlling and analysing monthly results and reporting to Management and Controlling.
  • Carrying out efficiency, annual standard price and/or model calculations and ongoing variance analyses.
  • Ensuring an orderly stock taking and valuation
  • Organising local inventory control/auditing procedures and records, supervising the conduct of inventory reviews
  • Maintaining and updates the respective SAP modules
  • Preparing all KA's for the site, monitors investment / cost projects, and performs closure and analysis


  • Preparing the consolidated annual financial statements
  • Developing internal controls
  • Preparing the consolidated budgeted balance sheet, income statement and cash flow.
  • Primary contact with auditors.


  • Handling all fiscal matters
  • Preparing and filing tax returns including the corresponding reports and handling internal and external tax related inquiries.
  • Advising Finance and Accounting department in matters relating to the optimization of the tax burden
  • Supporting tax audits

Skills/ Experience:

  • Degree in Economics/ Financial Accounting, MBA or similar
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years' professional experience in finance and accounting (preference to experience in an industrial and or auditing company), operational analysis, budget / planning, management reporting.
  • Excellent knowledge of SAP R/3 (key user experience)
  • International project management/ multi-national company(-ies)/ matrix organizations experience
  • IAS and/or US GAAP knowledge/ experience
  • Proven skill in driving change
  • Strong problem solving skills
