Financial Analyst
Location: North Chicago, IL
Schedule: Hybrid (onsite Tuesday-Thursday)
Pay Rate: $41-$44/HR (based on benefits)

Orion Group is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst to support our pharmaceutical client in North Chicago, IL. This role plays a critical part in tracking, gating, and reconciling external spend against contracted amounts while ensuring financial accuracy and compliance across cross-functional stakeholders.
The ideal candidate thrives in a matrix environment, works independently with minimal supervision, and brings strong analytical skills with expertise in Excel and SAP. This individual will serve as a key financial resource to leadership, enabling smooth execution of third-party spend and driving resolution of payment issues.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Tracking & Reconciliation
- Track, gate, and reconcile external spend against contracted amounts.
- Analyze and consolidate payment history to reconcile against forecast and plan.
- Accurately enter budget plans and track actual expenditures.
- Drive resolution of outstanding balances and payment discrepancies.
- Ensure accountability for reconciliation accuracy.
- Partner cross-functionally to track forecasted spend.
- Support financial planning processes and monitor variances.
- Recommend alternative contractual or financial approaches when challenges arise.
- Utilize internal financial systems and SAP to submit, track, and reconcile contracts, invoices, and vendors.
- Maintain organized financial documentation.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Challenge status quo to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 2+ years of relevant financial experience with Bachelor’s
- OR 4–6 years of accounting/financial reporting and contracting experience without Bachelor’s
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, data analysis, reporting)
- Experience working in SAP
- Working knowledge of basic financial and accounting principles
- Experience managing budgets and contracts
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a matrixed environment
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with financial reporting tools
- Experience in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment
