Orion Group is seeking a Finance Manager III to support a high-impact transformation initiative within a leading pharmaceutical organization. This role will play a critical part in transitioning financial forecasting capabilities from external vendors to the internal Finance team.
This is a project-driven, highly visible role focused on building internal ownership of forecasting models, improving transparency into vendor methodologies, and developing scalable reporting solutions for Finance and business leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong Excel-based modeling expertise, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across vendors and cross-functional stakeholders.

What You’ll Be Doing
Forecasting Transition & Model Ownership
  • Partner with external vendors to understand and document forecasting methodologies, assumptions, and data drivers
  • Recreate and enhance vendor-built forecasting models within Excel to establish internal ownership
  • Support the phased transition of forecasting responsibilities from vendors to Finance
  • Develop scenario-based models tied to key business drivers (e.g., patient enrollment, prescriptions, service utilization)
Vendor Engagement & Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Serve as the primary Finance liaison between internal teams and external forecasting vendors
  • Translate vendor outputs into actionable financial insights for business and Finance stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Finance leadership, Patient Services, and business teams to align forecasting assumptions
Management Reporting & Analytics
  • Design and build automated management reporting tools for Finance and leadership teams
  • Develop variance analysis frameworks tied to forecast assumptions and key drivers
  • Deliver clear, concise reporting to support decision-making and forecast accuracy
Process Improvement & Documentation
  • Create documentation, templates, and trackers to support long-term internal ownership
  • Identify opportunities to streamline forecasting, reporting, and data flows
  • Establish repeatable processes to support ongoing financial planning efforts

What They’re Looking For
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in Finance, FP&A, or Accounting
  • Advanced Excel skills (required) – financial modeling, scenario analysis, and data manipulation
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to drive timelines and deliverables
  • Experience working with external vendors or third-party partners
  • Proven ability to translate complex data into business insights
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across cross-functional teams
  • Experience with PowerPoint required; Power BI or reporting tools are a plus
  • Comfortable working in a matrixed, fast-paced environment

Key Success Factors
  • Ability to reverse-engineer and rebuild vendor models into Finance-owned solutions
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and data integrity
  • Effective relationship management across vendors, Finance, and business stakeholders
  • Ability to document processes clearly and build scalable frameworks

Additional Context
  • This role supports a multi-phase initiative to bring forecasting capabilities in-house ahead of key planning cycles
  • The team is currently reliant on vendor outputs and is seeking to build internal visibility and control over forecasting assumptions and methodologies
  • Day-to-day interaction includes Finance leadership, business partners, and external vendors
