Orion Group is seeking a Finance Manager III for our pharmaceutical client location in Mettawa, IL.
The primary objective of this position is to support the transition of forecast ownership from external vendors to the internal Finance team. This role will focus on enhancing visibility into vendor-built forecasts, establishing robust financial models, and developing management reporting tools. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, technically adept in Excel-based modeling, and experienced in business partnership.

Orion Group is seeking a Finance Manager III for our pharmaceutical client location in Mettawa, IL.
The primary objective of this position is to support the transition of forecast ownership from external vendors to the internal Finance team. This role will focus on enhancing visibility into vendor-built forecasts, establishing robust financial models, and developing management reporting tools. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, technically adept in Excel-based modeling, and experienced in business partnership.
Finance Manager III Responsibilities:
- Vendor Engagement & Assumption Management – Act as Finance liaison with external forecasting vendors. Gather and document forecast assumptions, version history, and driver inputs. Ensure timely delivery of complete, accurate forecast data from vendors
- Model Ownership & Forecast Transition – Build or adapt Excel-based financial models to reflect business assumptions and scenario planning. Shadow vendor-produced forecasts and create Finance-owned versions for comparison. Assist in the phased transition of partial model ownership to the internal team
- Management Reporting & Variance Analysis – Design and produce clear, automated management reporting tools. Develop variance analysis frameworks tied to forecast assumptions. Partner with Finance and Business teams to surface key insights
- Team Enablement & Documentation – Create templates, trackers, and process documentation to support long-term ownership by Finance. Identify and recommend opportunities to streamline forecasting and reporting processes.
- Requires 7-10 years progressive accounting or finance experience
- This position requires an individual with the ability and desire to proactively search out and evaluate business problems and opportunities
- Advanced Excel modeling skills required; experience with PowerPoint or Power BI a plus
- Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills Proven ability to work independently and drive results in a matrixed organization
- Comfortable engaging with both internal stakeholders and third-party vendors
