rion Group Life Sciences is currently recruiting a Finance Manager on behalf of our multinational biopharmaceutical client, for a permanent position based in Malta.

The Finance Manager oversees all financial operations of a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, cost-effective production, compliance with international accounting standards, and alignment with regulatory requirements relevant to the pharma industry.
The Finance Manager serves as a key business partner to Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, and Corporate Finance, driving financial performance and supporting strategic decision-making.

Essential responsibilities:
• Lead annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-term planning for the manufacturing site.
• Partner with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to consolidate operational budgets.
• Track manufacturing variances (yield, scrap, OEE, batch costs) and recommend corrective actions.
• Support scenario modeling for capacity expansion, CapEx, and production optimization.
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Maintain compliance with IFRS/GAAP, corporate accounting policies, and audit standards.
• Oversee general ledger accuracy, accruals, provisions, and month-end closures.
• Prepare management reports, dashboards, KPIs, and performance insights.
• Manage standard costing, BOM reviews, batch costing, and cost-of-goods-manufactured reporting.
• Analyze variance drivers (material, labor, overhead, yield losses, downtimes).
•Ensure robust cost allocation methodologies aligned with GMP requirements.
• Support pricing, cost-reduction initiatives, and productivity improvement projects.
• Implement and maintain internal controls for financial, operational, and inventory processes.
• Ensure compliance with GMP-linked financial documentation practices.
• Coordinate internal/external audits and ensure timely closure of observations.
• Ensure proper segregation of duties and financial risk mitigation.
• Oversee cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning.
• Manage payables, receivables, collections, and bank reconciliations.
• Optimize working capital—inventory, safety stocks, slow-moving/expired materials, and receivables.
• Support procurement in commercial evaluations, cost negotiations, and supplier assessments.
• Review and validate purchase contracts and commercial terms.
• Monitor import costs, freight, customs, and landed cost accuracy.
• G. ERP, Systems & Process Improvements
• Oversee ERP system integrity (SAP/Oracle/MS Dynamics or equivalent).
• Lead digital finance initiatives and automation of reporting.
• Support data accuracy for inventory, production entries, and batch records.
• Lead and develop the finance team.
• Serve as financial advisor to General Manager and Operations leadership.
• Build strong collaboration with Quality, Regulatory, Production, Supply Chain, and Engineering

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
• ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent

Experience:
• Minimum 8–12 years of finance experience
• At least 5 years in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or manufacturing related field
• Strong understanding of cost accounting, manufacturing finance, and regulatory constraints.
• Strong command of IFRS/GAAP
• ERP proficiency (SAP/Oracle/MS Dynamics)
• Costing methodologies for pharma manufacturing
• Financial modeling and analysis
