Field Planning Scheduling Engineer

We’re seeking an experienced Field Planning/Scheduling Engineer to join a large-scale (Mega) EPC project based in Edmonton, AB.  This role is focused on providing schedule development, maintenance, and field-based progress tracking to help support the successful execution of our clients' project construction activities.

You’ll be embedded within the site-based team, responsible for helping to ensure timelines are realistic, progress is accurately captured, and the project stays on track. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and experienced with Primavera P6 and field-level scheduling on large scale, oil & gas, industrial projects. The Field Planning /Scheduling Engineer is closely involved and facilitates the preparation of the project plan and schedule and must be able to provide accurate and timely status of the project plan.  This role involves creating detailed project schedules, monitoring progress against milestones, identifying schedule risks, and providing recommendations to optimize project schedules.  This is a long term contract that has great potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Support construction scheduling efforts using Primavera P6
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of project schedules across all EPC phases
  • Conduct site walkdowns to verify construction progress and gather planning inputs
  • Coordinate with field and project teams to update timelines and status reports
  • Generate weekly lookahead schedules and assist with earned value tracking
  • Attend regular planning and construction coordination meetings
  • Identify scheduling risks or conflicts and support mitigation planning
  • Prepare summary and detailed schedule reports for internal stakeholders
To be successful:
  • Min 5+ years of experience in planning/scheduling roles on EPC or industrial construction projects
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
    (Additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education)
  • Proficient in Primavera P6
  • Familiar with project execution processes, sequencing, and field coordination
  • Strong communication and reporting skills
  • Experience with earned value management principles is considered an asset
  • Comfortable working in the field — walking uneven surfaces and climbing industrial platforms as needed
  • Site Based Role located in Edmonton AB (No LOA)
  • Monday–Friday 40 hrs per week with overtime depending on project needs
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and possess a valid driver’s license
