We are currently seeking an experienced Field Cost Engineer to support a mega-scale construction project based near Edmonton, Alberta. This is a site-based, contract position focused on controlling, forecasting, and reporting project costs in a dynamic construction environment. This contract role offers an opportunity to be at the centre of cost control activities on a complex, multi-disciplinary (major energy project) construction site. This is a fantastic long term contract opportunity to contribute to a high-impact project with a professional, experienced team.

As a Field Cost Engineer, you will be responsible for cost tracking, change management, forecasting, and reporting throughout the lifecycle of the project. You’ll work closely with planning, procurement, and construction teams to ensure that all cost-related data is accurate, current, and clearly communicated to project stakeholders. Your expertise will help the team maintain financial visibility and discipline across all project scopes.

You’ll work closely with planning, procurement, and construction teams to ensure that all cost-related data is accurate, current, and clearly communicated to project stakeholders. Your expertise will help the team maintain financial visibility and discipline across all project scopes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate field cost control efforts including forecasting, reporting, and earned value analysis
- Track project expenditures against the control budget and investigate variances
- Maintain change management logs and incorporate approved changes into forecasts
- Prepare and deliver regular cost reports and dashboards (SAP & Omega 365)
- Validate and consolidate cost data from contractors, vendors, and procurement
- Collaborate with planning/scheduling personnel to align cost and schedule data
- Participate in risk reviews, trend analysis, and project team meetings
- Monitor compliance with financial and reporting standards across all cost engineers on the project
- Minimum 15 years of experience in project cost control on industrial or mega construction projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline preferred
- High proficiency with SAP, Omega 365 (PIMS), and advanced Excel
- Strong understanding of project controls, earned value, and change management principles
- Familiarity with cost forecasting tools and project performance metrics
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with field and office teams
- This is a site-based near Edmonton, AB (No LOA)
- Able to work full-time hrs daily on site (Mon–Fri), with occasional OT as required
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and possess a valid driver’s license
