Objective (Purpose of Position)

To ensure that Electrical Work execution is as per technical specifications and procedures under safety regulations set by the company and within schedule limits to meet the overall target of the specific project.


Provides technical and engineering support and guidance to site teams.

Undertakes in-depth analyses/studies of problems and identify longer-term solutions and/or options.

Implement P&ID requirements into electrical design, Review vendor/contractor drawings.

Prepare electrical load list, schematic diagrams, single line diagrams, cable schedules and MTO using Smart Plant Electrical.

Perform power system studies (short circuit, coordination, motor starting, arc flash, harmonics) using ETAP.

Perform calculations for equipment sizing, cable sizing, lighting, grounding and heat tracing.

Prepare specifications, data sheets, cable schedules and load schedules.

Produce material take-off and material requisition, and Review Bids and Technical Evaluation.

Design and checking of single lines, schematics and wiring diagrams, area classification, grounding, panel/cable schedules, equipment layout, cable layout, tray layout, lighting, electrical heat tracing, and installation details without supervision.

Provide construction support and perform pre-commissioning and start-up activities for electrical systems when required.

Periodically participate in HAZOP studies, Assist in Plant start-up and performance testing, as required.

Supporting Engineering Management and Site Management as required

Ensure recognized engineering practices applicable to electrical design

Be responsible for other tasks assigned by Supervisor/ Section Manager and or Department Manager.

Position Requirement

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

Minimum 10 years of experience on Electrical Engineering.

Experience in oil & gas, power generation, chemical and petrochemical industries, standards and recommended practices standards.

Having Training Certifications shall be given preference.

Having Project Management Certification such as PMP shall be given preference.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Fully familiar with international codesA degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 10 years' experience in detailed engineering and design of electrical works for large refinery / gas projects in similar position.

Fully familiar with international codes, standards and recommended practices standards like ANSI, IEEE, NEC, ISA, NEMA, CSA, UL, API, etc as well as area classification techniques as per NEC.

Experience in electrical design using Smart Plant Electrical.

Expertise in medium and low voltage systems.

Able to work with minimal supervision.

Detail orientated and able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

Effective analytical and problems solving skills.

Trouble shooting skills, Man management skills, interpersonal relationship skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic with professional report writing and presentation skills.
