Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Estimating Manager, can be based in Aberdeen, London or Woking.


Provide leadership and guidance to the estimating & proposals team

Lead proposal costing and estimations for management reviews and seeking stakeholders' approvals

Liaise cross functionally (e.g. Commercial Director, EPC projects VP, Operations Director, Sr. Proposal Manager, PMC Director, Project Directors, Subcontracts, Supply Chain (including Procurement), etc.) to obtain timely costing inputs and performing costing due diligence

Develop Costing & Estimation Risks and Opportunities. In consultation with Project or Operations Directors, develop costing risk mitigations and quantification of contingency budget

Assign qualified personnel to each proposal who will serve as the focal point for generation of the estimates and proposal documents

Recruitment, development, coaching & mentoring of team members. Develop succession plan for key/critical personnel

Development and management of a robust historical cost database including wage rates, installation unit rates, and subcontractor performance

Develop a standardized approach to the generation of proposals and estimates

Receive and file historical reports received from the project during the project

Close-out phase and refresh the historical database with data gathered from the historical reports

Working in cooperation with the subcontracts, supply chain and projects/operations groups, generate a temporary facilities plan (camp, offices, warehousing, etc.) and estimate the requirements for construction equipment, scaffolding, and special logistical requirements

Provide estimating support to active projects

High level review of Client's SOW and Pricing Preambles to identify costing requirements, guide Estimation team members to ensure costing sheets have no gaps or duplications and pricing preambles are complied with

Arranging peer reviews/red team reviews of cost estimates

Supporting Projects/Operations for valuation of variations, change orders and claims for generation of cost estimates and prices using appropriate provisions in the Contract - make value improvement ideas where possible

Lead hand-over of Project costs for successful Tenderer to Project/Operations Director/ Manager. Hold hand for initial period to explain the costing assumptions

Lead market benchmarking and lesson learnt processes to ensure that costing and benchmarking exercises are competitive

Experience & Qualifications:

Extensive experience in Onshore Infrastructure/ Energy/ Power Generation Project

High level of experience in each of EPC, PMC, Engineering and/or O&M estimating

Degree qualified in a related area(e.g. Quantity Surveying )

Chartered status MRICS and/or MACostE

Excellent leadership and communications skills
