Our Client is a successfull Civil Engineering contractor with a long history of delivering complex projects including Marine, Renewables, Power & Transmission.

As the Environmental Clerk of Works, you’ll be the on-the-ground guardian of biodiversity, habitats, and compliance.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a field-based role supporting a range of infrastructure and construction projects (Power & Transmission, Renewables, Cabling).

Your day-to-day work will include:
  • 🛠 Monitoring and ensuring compliance with environmental commitments and legal requirements on construction sites
  • 📋 Advising site teams on best practices to protect habitats, species, and natural features
  • 🦉 Undertaking ecological surveys (e.g. protected species, nesting birds) and reporting findings
  • 🤝 Liaising with contractors, designers, and clients to deliver practical environmental solutions
  • 📝 Producing site reports and communicating risks or incidents promptly
  • 🔎 Identifying opportunities to enhance biodiversity through proactive site management
What You’ll Need We're looking for someone who:
  • Holds a degree (or equivalent experience) in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field
  • Has at least 1 year of site-based experience (e.g. construction, ecology, consultancy, enforcement)
  • Understands UK environmental legislation, especially in relation to planning and construction
  • Is confident working independently and influencing site teams in a practical, supportive way
  • Has a full UK driving licence and is happy to travel to rural sites
Desirable but not essential:
  • CSCS card (preffered but not essential)
  • Experience with protected species mitigation or ECoW roles
  • Familiarity with CEMP/EMP implementation
