Engineering Technician I
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Contract Opportunity- 12months to start (temp-to-perm)

$37/HR, M-F 8am-5pm
 
Orion Group's medical device client is seeking an Engineering Technician I to support operations at the Salt Lake Service Center. This entry-level role is ideal for someone looking to build hands-on technical experience working with electro-mechanical medical devices, service equipment, and calibration processes.
The Engineering Technician will assist with equipment setup, maintenance, and service activities while supporting engineering teams with operational and validation tasks. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills in a highly regulated medical device environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of service equipment in the service center
  • Support tracking and organization of tools, fixtures, and equipment identification
  • Help with equipment setup and assist Service Engineering with validation activities
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and equipment checks
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance and service activities
  • Execute calibration and maintenance of test equipment following established procedures
  • Follow standard operating procedures to support service operations and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist engineering and supervisory teams with assigned project tasks
Required Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma required
  • Associate degree in a technical field OR 1–3 years of experience in maintenance, service, repair, or technical equipment support
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and work under supervision
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings and documentation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, or metrology concepts
  • Experience working with technical equipment or medical devices
Work Environment
  • Work performed in a service repair hub environment
  • Requires manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination when working with electro-mechanical devices
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
  • Travel: Less than 5%
