We are currently looking for an experienced Engineering Lead (Electrical – Power Supply). This position is based in Ras Laffan, Qatar.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee Electrical Engineering activities for the onshore project, ensuring compliance with project specifications, standards and technical requirements.
Provide technical guidance to EPC contractors, subcontractors and vendors and support the resolution of electrical engineering issues.
Lead electrical engineering activities covering design, procurement and integration to meet project objectives and milestones.
Support electrical engineering activities during installation, pre-commissioning, site acceptance testing and commissioning.
Provide field engineering support during start-up and early operations through completion of performance testing.
Lead and coordinate electrical engineering design and planning activities.
Review electrical simulations and optimisation studies covering power generation, distribution systems, HV switchgear, VFDs, large motors and power management systems.
Review technical aspects of electrical equipment purchase orders and ensure safe integration of electrical equipment.
Monitor EPC contractor deliverables, progress and milestones and provide technical support where required.
Coordinate electrical engineering interfaces with offshore, onshore, power suppliers and other relevant third parties.
Support commissioning, start-up and system completion activities and provide recommendations on electrical matters.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
8 years of relevant engineering experience, including experience in the Oil & Gas industry and at least 1 year in a supervisory, acting or contractor/vendor oversight role.
Experience on a major LNG project is preferred.
Broad knowledge of engineering execution, design standards, specifications, codes, safety criteria and onshore LNG facilities and utility systems.
Strong experience with HV/MV/LV electrical systems, transformers, switchgear and power management systems.
Experience with electrical system controls, reactive and active power sharing, power distribution control and large motors 40MW+.
Strong understanding of high-voltage and large-scale onshore power design requirements.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Strong organisational, planning, coordination, technical and management skills.
Good communication, influencing and interface skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
