The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an electrical engineer with strong offshore wind, renewables or major energy infrastructure experience to work on a large-scale project at an important stage of its development.

The Role
Working as part of the project engineering team, you will provide electrical engineering expertise across the development and detailed design of the project, working closely with engineering contractors, package managers, consultants and other technical disciplines.
The role will have a strong focus on technical assurance, design development and electrical interfaces, ensuring that the developing design is technically robust and aligned with project requirements as the project moves towards procurement, construction and installation.
Responsibilities are likely to include:
  • Providing electrical engineering expertise throughout the development and detailed design phase of a major offshore wind project.
  • Reviewing and challenging electrical engineering deliverables produced by engineering contractors and consultants.
  • Supporting the development and review of electrical design philosophies, specifications, calculations and technical documentation.
  • Working across HV/MV electrical systems, substations, power transmission and distribution systems.
  • Supporting the technical development of offshore and onshore electrical infrastructure.
  • Reviewing electrical equipment specifications and technical requirements for major equipment packages.
  • Supporting the development and review of substation, transformer, switchgear, protection, earthing, auxiliary and control systems.
  • Providing technical input into export cable, inter-array cable and associated electrical interface requirements.
  • Managing and resolving electrical interfaces between offshore, onshore, grid connection and other project packages.
  • Supporting grid connection and transmission-related engineering activities.
  • Participating in technical reviews, design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP or similar project assurance activities where appropriate.
  • Identifying technical risks, design gaps and interfaces and ensuring these are appropriately managed.
  • Supporting procurement and contractor engagement from an electrical engineering perspective.
  • Working closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure effective multidisciplinary integration.
  • Providing technical input into project decisions as the design develops towards construction.
  • Supporting the project team through the transition from development/detailed design into the subsequent delivery phase.
Experience Required
We are looking for an experienced electrical engineer who understands the development and delivery of large-scale offshore wind or comparable energy infrastructure projects.
You are likely to have:
  • Significant experience in electrical engineering within offshore wind, renewables, power generation, transmission, oil & gas or major energy infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of HV electrical systems and large-scale power infrastructure.
  • Experience working on offshore wind farms, offshore/onshore substations, transmission systems or major grid-connected projects.
  • Experience reviewing and assuring engineering contractor deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of electrical interfaces across complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Experience working through detailed design, procurement and/or pre-construction phases.
  • The ability to work effectively with engineering contractors, consultants, suppliers and internal project teams.
  • A good understanding of UK electrical engineering and grid connection requirements.
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
