  • Date posted: 31/07/2020

Currently seeking and experienced Nuclear EC&I Area Engineering Manager for an exciting project based in the North West.

The Decommissioning Higher Activity Waste Capability (DHAWC) Study recommended a strategic change in the way that the processing of Decommissioning Higher Activity Waste (DHAW) is conducted on site. This strategic change was approved by the Remediation Programme Board and Strategic Governance Committee (SGC).

The requirement to deliver this capability is imminent as the forecasted DHAW arising's of CHILW have already begun and is being stored within their source facilities. The implementation of this route forms part of the strategy for dealing with Contact Handleable Intermediate Level Waste (CHILW) from decommissioning operations.

As part of the DHAWC study Low End Encapsulation Capability (LEEC), renamed Decommissioning Encapsulation Plant (DEP) was selected as the feasible option for CHILW encapsulation requirement in the revised strategy. The LEEC Study concluded that that a flood grout process housed in the existing building WTC 1B was the Single Viable Option (SVO).

The DEP project is currently revisiting some of its validation activities for its Single Viable Option. The Project Execution Planning is anticipated to commence in September with an IPDG scheduled in late October/early November 2020. Timely appointment into this role will allow the individual to develop the engineering delivery strategy, oversee the IPDG submission prior to commencing the engineering design delivery phases of this project.

The individual shall be able to demonstrate they are SQEP against SL R2A2 ED0Z issue 1
