Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Director of Projects & Engineering for Algeria, based in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities:

o Overall accountable for all projects successful HSEQ, Schedule, and delivery in company, CAPEX (Brownfield/Greenfield dependent on split between Operations group), ABEX, and 3rd Party business (which will be limited)

o Promote and develop an HSEQ culture within Engineering & Projects community

o Accountable for departmental governance, assurance and risks

o Promote and develop an HSEQ culture within Engineering & Projects community

o Accountable for departmental governance, assurance and risks

o Promote lessons learned and develop Engineering & Projects organizational process to capitalize on company knowledge

o Promote Engineering & Projects contractors & main vendors company strategical positioning

o Promote Engineering & Projects process, tools and methodology

o Ensure that Projects & Engineering is compliant with company policies, procedures and practices

People development:

o Promote career development for the Projects & Engineering community plus detect and promote talent for the wider organization

o Accountable for the development and mentoring of the Algerian Projects & Engineering team

o Accountable for Projects & Engineering team succession planning

o Fosters a culture of continuous improvement within company by maintaining quality standards and displaying an openness and willingness to act on improvements

o Champions diversity and all aspects of EDI focused on the company group

Strategy development:

o Creates new networks and connections at the most senior levels within and outside of company and specifically with our Joint Venture partner.

o Strategic input into the Algerian region overarching strategy with respect to future projects, business development and merger & acquisition opportunities

Budgetary:

o Accountable for the G&A budget setting and expenditure for the Projects & Engineering team (total Phase 2 Development cost is circa $500MUSD)

o Accountable for the EPC 3 project which is a project of circa $130MUSD (project 85% complete)

o DOA level: In line with company delegation of authority

Experience & Qualifications:

o Relevant university degree preferred. Extensive work experience may be considered

o Extensive experience in the oil and gas sector in a Projects & Engineering environment required

o International project portfolio management experience preferred

o Track record of development and execution of major projects in an E&P company with onshore gas plant experience preferred, and facilities based projects experience will be an advantage e.g. civils projects

o Preferred knowledge of rules and regulations of Algeria / onshore gas plants

o Previous joint venture experience is essential

o Ability to influence through building rapport, gaining trust and relationship. Understanding Joint Venture drivers and need essential to achieving alignment

o All decisions must be sanctioned by dual-approval with our Joint Venture partner

o Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a variety of stakeholders

o Strong HSE leadership skills

o Can apply robust commercial awareness and business acumen to enhance company performance

o Performs efficiently under time pressure

o Fluency in English is essential. Conversational ability in either French or Arabic is also required
