Our client has a current opportunity for a Despatch Operator to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis at their Inverness site.
The Despatch Operator plays a critical role in the function of the warehouse, helping to move goods, supplies and materials from one place to another, on and off shelves, trucks, pallets, etc whilst adhering to strict governmental, and company safety standards.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Driving forklift to move, stock or load vehicles
• Ensuring all work is carried out safely following health and safety protocols
• Loading and unloading goods from vehicles such as lorries
• Moving goods packed on pallets or in crates around the storage facility
• Stacking goods in the correct storage bays as instructed
• Following stock control instructions
• Checking loads are secure
• Stacking empty pallets, performing daily equipment checks
• Keeping work areas clean and organised
• Other warehouse tasks such as packing as and when required
The post holder requires to:
• Complete physical tasks quickly and accurately
• Be able to judge measurements e.g. weights, heights, lengths
• Take instructions both verbally and written
• Have a high level of concentration is essential for the position
• Be disciplined and follow our strict health and safety rules and regulations
• Have good preparation and organisational skills
• Be adaptable enough to use various vehicles in addition to forklifts after appropriate training
• Work closely with others. Teamwork is essential to be able to work with colleagues as well as external personnel i.e. lorry drivers and contractors
• Have excellent communication skills to communicate well with other forklift drivers and external customers
