SECTION 1: POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Cost Engineer
SECTION 2: KEY ROLE
This role will be responsible for cost engineering support for P&O Projects, focusing on maintaining the procedures and deliverables associated with cost control and interface activities for both CAT A and CAT B projects in AGT.
SECTION 3: POSITION REPORTS TO
LINE MANAGER TITLE: Senior Cost Engineer
SECTION 4: PRE-REQUISITES
SECTION 4.1: BASIC SKILLS
• Experience working as a cost engineer within large organisation or project
• Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
• Ability to recognize and solve problems.
• Mindset supporting cost engineering transition towards digitisation
• Analytical ability combined with good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent skill using Microsoft suite of tools
SECTION 4.2: TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Degree educated preferably in an engineering, construction, or business-related discipline
SECTION 5: RESPONSIBILITIES & OBJECTIVES
• General cost engineering support to operating bases projects.
• Final cost forecast and value of work done submissions
• Supports the development of standard procedures and templates to simplify, standardise, centralise and digitise cost engineering for projects
• Ensure early recognition and assessment of cost risks, opportunities and trends that could affect the Forecast Final Cost (FFC) and annual expenditure forecasts Plans & Procedures
• Work closely with project controls team who performance managing project headcount to support an accurate cost forecast.
• Support the development of artificial intelligence cost forecasting
• Provide regular cost reports to Delivery Managers, Project Management and other stakeholders.
• Provide cost input to the Change Notification form; incorporate output into cost reports
• Analyse project WBS data to understand variances from plan and impact of actual performance on total installed costs.
• Work in SAP and cost related business tools
• Support the AGT project teams and provide input to key business processes such as AWP&B, MCE, QPF etc.
• Ensure correct coding of all requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, estimates, and develop and maintain all required cost logs and registers.
• Support to projects’ cost close out
