Contracts Lead
Location: Qatar Onshore – Doha (90% onshore and 10% offshore)

Job purpose
Our client is seeking an experienced Contracts Lead to manage the EPCI, FEED, and Long Lead Item (LLI) contract processes for a major offshore project.
The role will cover the full contract lifecycle, from contract strategy and preparation of ITTs through tender evaluation and contract award, as well as day-to-day contract administration and post-award activities.
 
Key Responsibilities
Develop contracting scenarios to support effective contract strategy workshops.
Lead the preparation of FEED, EPCI, and LLI contracts in coordination with Legal and Supply teams.
Advise on technical bid evaluation plans, procedures, and models for evaluating technical bids.
Coordinate with contractors to ensure compliance with contractual terms and applicable regulations.
Manage post-award activities, including formal correspondence, change orders, claims, insurance, and guarantees.
Advise the Project Management Team on major change orders, claims, and negotiations with EPC contractors and LLI suppliers.
Coordinate with Supply and Legal teams on contractual and legal matters.
Review and resolve contractor claims and contractual issues on behalf of the company.
Coordinate the transfer of LLI contracts through novation or free issue to the selected EPCI contractor.
Provide timely advice on contractual breaches.
Review existing contract agreements and recommend amendments and improvements for future projects.
Manage contracts and LLIs from contract award through to completion and close-out.
 
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Commercial, Marketing, Sciences, Engineering, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, Law, Communication, Technologies, Mathematics and Statistics, or a related discipline.
Minimum 8 years of experience in contract management related to EPC contracts.
At least 4 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
Minimum 1 year of experience in a supervisory or acting role, or experience overseeing contractors, subcontractors, service providers, or vendors.
Experience in contract formulation, systems, and processes across a broad range of contracts.
Experience working with Oil & Gas companies, EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, or service companies.
Good knowledge of project business functions including planning, scheduling, cost control, estimating, claims management, risk management, change management, procurement, and pre- and post-award contract management.
Knowledge of international standards, best practices, and methodologies relevant to business disciplines.
Strong knowledge of relevant business processes and procedures.
Experience applying risk assessment approaches in decision-making.
Strong knowledge of relevant software and computer applications, including dashboards, data analytics, SAP, and professional office applications.
Experience supporting large-scale integrated operating and project organizations.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Outstanding negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complaints and concerns.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong computer literacy.
