POSITION TITLE :
Construction Engineer– Instrument and Telecom

This role is for the Shah Deniz Compression (SDC) project. The project will build a new electric Normally Unattended Installation (eNUI), controlled remotely. It is a compression platform with electrically driven compressors, to be in the SD area in Caspian.

KEY ROLES

The SDC Instrument and telecom Construction Engineer will be responsible for delivery of Instrument and Telecom construction/installation across designated areas of the SDC Topsides, with specific emphasis as follows;
  • Demonstrate excellent personal HSSE leadership and HSE behaviours. Lead by example, with regards to company’s HSE policy.
  • Fulfil the role of BP focal-point for Instrument and telecom construction/installation delivery across designated platform areas, providing ongoing technical oversight and guidance to Construction Contractor.
Actively participate in construction-related decisions; collaborate with SDC Lead EIT Construction Engineer to provide a discipline perspective to schedules, design deliverables, materials purchases, material delivery configuration and sequence, as well as development of any required subcontracts

LINE MANAGER TITLE:  SDC Lead Electrical & IT engineer

BASIC SKILLS
  • Strong understanding of Instrument and telecom offshore electrical systems: LV/MV/HV distribution, UPS, Transformers, switchgear, lighting and earthing.
  • Understanding of BP’s Engineering Technical Practices (ETP’s) or similar IOC-specific guidelines.
  • Understanding of site installation, cable routing, glanding, termination and loop checking standards and processes.
  • Ability to support pre-commissining and commissioning activities, FAT/SAT and punch list clearance.
Deep understanding of BP Construction Defined Practice and the latest international standards that assure integrity of build and construction quality.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering from an accredited university
  • Desired: A master degree or post-graduate specialization in Offshore Systems, electrical or Control engineering is an advantage.

EXPERIENCE
  • Strong understanding of electrical offshore electrical systems: LV/MV/HV distribution, UPS, ESDTransformers, switchgear, lighting and earthing.
  • Significant experience (10+ years) of Electrical & IT construction/installation, including knowledge of associated codes and practices.
  • Experience of effectively interfacing and working together with Design / Construction Contractors and Operations entities.
  • Familiarity with project specifications and drawings review process.
Effective collaboration with with multi-disciplinary teams, including structural, marine, QA/QC and HSE teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES & OBJECTIVES

Actively participate in Topside Instrument & Telecom related decisions; collaborate with SDC Topside team lead to provide a discipline perspective to schedules, design deliverables, materials purchases, material delivery configuration and sequence, as well as development of any required subcontracts

·         Interface with Design and Fabrication Contractors to ensure Instrucment and Telecom constructability input is being actively considered and implemented.
·         Develop and maintain all required project documentation, including all associated Instrument and telecom preservation procedures.
·         Provide all necessary instrument and telecom input to SDC Construction Execution Plan, Mechanical Completion Plan, Construction Work Package Plan (CWPP) and Construction Site Surveillance Plan.

Ensure CONTRACTOR(s) Instrument & Telecom resources are mobilized and ramp-up at site efficiently and effectively and that all COMPANY requirements are fully met.

Provide field oversight of all Instrument & Telecom construction/installation activities, from start through final acceptance including Mechanical Completion Handover processes.
Anticipate and identify adverse trends/events throughout the Instrument & Telecom fabrication and construction cycle and work with the relevant parties to avoid them or achieve timely resolution.
 
Objectives:
  • Eliver Safe and Compliant I&T systems: ensure all instrumentation and telecom systems are designed, installed and commissioned in full compliance.
  • Maintain technical Integrity of the topside platform by ensuring all Instrument and Telecom deliverables, specificatios, and installations meet project design basis, applicable codes, and client quality standards.
  • Ensure full compliance with BP’s specification, engineering, safety and envinronmental requirements.
  • Minimize rework by proactively resolving technical issues and maintaining construction discipline on site.
