Role: Construction Delivery Manager

Location: Somerset

Background: Our client are looking to recruit a Construction Delivery Manager with a background in installation & delivering large, complex, MEH (Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC) services. The Construction Delivery Manager will assist planning for individual works sections in support of the work completed on strategic logistics. Thereafter, they will be responsible for the detailed planning and implementation, in collaboration with the rest of the HPC Delivery Team and Senior Construction Delivery Manager. This role reports into the Senior Construction Delivery Manager.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Support contract partners in their delivery of the works packages to enable efficient delivery of their sections of works.
  • Drive works on site and ensure contractor performance is in line with the agreed programme, intervene. Escalate concerns to the Area Construction Lead and provide solutions to recover/mitigate following dialogue with the contractor.
  • Review the construction daily report to ensure information is reported to the required level of detail up through the organisation to the Area Construction Lead and escalate any issues/concerns via detailed reports.
  • Proactively communicate/co-ordinate with other site teams (H&S, contract, project controls, logistics) and Senior Construction Delivery Managers to ensure activity is well and timely reported.
  • Regular attendance meetings with the contractor to ensure that short term planning is in line with the overall delivery schedule.
  • Undertake safety and/or assurance inspections that support the project HSPI's.
  • Fulfil line management responsibilities to construction delivery managers which will include but not be limited to setting objectives, monitoring/managing performance, mentoring and developing construction delivery managers.
  • Manage and coordinate delivery of service contract partners.
  • Ensure clear, two-way communication with the Senior Construction Delivery Manager so that all activity and issues are directed appropriately.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualification in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Construction management, or equivalent vocational training.
  • Background in installation & delivering large, complex, MEH (Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC) services Experience and knowledge of construction sequencing, recovery plans and resource allocation. Preferably with experience in a nuclear environment.
  • Good understanding of the post holder's obligations under CDM Regulations.
  • SMSTS or IOSH qualification holder.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution would be an advantage.
