Role Summary
The Completions Engineer (CE) is responsible for the design, planning, and execution support of completions, workovers, and well interventions. This role ensures delivery of wells that are safe, compliant, reliable, and cost-effective, in line with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and bp standards.
The CE operates as an independent technical practitioner, providing subject matter expertise and playing a leading role in multi-disciplinary teams supporting the planning and execution of well activities, particularly within subsea and offshore environments.

Key Accountabilities
Well Delivery & Execution
- Lead the design and execution planning for completions, workovers, and intervention activities
- Deliver wells that are safe, reliable, and optimized for performance and cost
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting during field operations
Safety, Risk & Compliance
- Identify and manage well control and process safety risks during design and execution
- Provide technical input to risk assessments, Management of Change (MoC), and deviations from standards
- Ensure compliance with bp practices, Well Delivery Workflow, and regulatory requirements
Engineering & Planning
- Develop and maintain completions programs, procedures, and technical documentation
- Provide input to Statements of Requirements (SoR), AFEs, and time/cost estimates
- Define technical specifications for tubulars, completion equipment, and sandface systems
- Support SIMOPs planning and execution across integrated operations environments
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze performance data and benchmarking to support continuous improvement initiatives
- Implement and evaluate new technologies, techniques, and operational efficiencies
- Share learnings and best practices across assets and regions
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Wells Engineering, Operations, Production, Projects, Finance, PSCM, and Regulatory teams
- Support supplier performance management and issue resolution
- Collaborate with field leadership, including Well Superintendents and Well Site Leaders
Leadership & Knowledge Sharing
- Mentor and coach less experienced engineers
- Contribute to the development of standards, procedures, and best practices
- Support the Completions Engineering Team Leader.
Project Closeout & Handover
- Ensure effective well project closeout and handover to production teams
- Support post-job reviews and lessons learned documentation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or related discipline)
- Valid Well Control Certification
Experience & Technical Expertise
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in completions, workovers, and interventions engineering
- Proven experience in subsea completions and offshore operations
- Strong knowledge of:
- Well intervention techniques (wireline, perforating, fishing)
- Fracturing and stimulation
- Sand control completions
- Well performance and data acquisition
- Experience working with rig operations and completion equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Gulf of America (GoA) deepwater operations
- Knowledge of flow assurance and production operations
- Experience working with Finance and PSCM in supplier management
- Track record of working across cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams
