Our Oil & Gas operator client is seeking an experienced Lead Commercial Advisor for an immediate 11 month contract, overseeing and advising on major Joint Venture agreements, particularly around subsurface, geo and reservoir. Candidates must have previous oil & gas Operator experience and be very familiar with the UK legal framework. The succesful applicant will be engaged on a PAYE contract which although work from home initially will ultimately be based in Aberdeen

Responsibilities will include:
Autonomously deliver on business strategies relating to joint venture asset life cycle activities, from exploration to decommissioning.
Lead Commercial Negotiations with the aim of securing new business to the asset.
Engage with third parties, define and acquire internal and JV approval of the key Heads of Terms, final contract to be issued to third party.
Lead Commercial Negotiations in contractual disputes, aiming for a resolution that protects the best interest of the asset.
Provide commercial interpretation of existing contracts to support business objectives, contractual disputes and improvements.
Where appropriate provide commercial management of asset commercial agreements through management of contracts for joint development and operations, transportation and processing and products sale and disposal.
Where appropriate support the coordination of all the day to day JV activities in order to ensure efficient communication between the Operator and the Partners, to ensure relationships are build and effective.
Ensure that the company's obligations under its JOA's and other Agreements are fulfilled

Qualifications and Experience
Degree in an appropriate discipline.
Extensive work experience preferably in an upstream oil and gas role.
Good working knowledge of UKCS upstream joint venture business practices.
Deep understanding of the UK legal framework as it applies to the Upstream Oil and Gas Industry
Ability to represent the Company both internally and externally.
Highly developed negotiation skills and proven ability to influence and persuade.
Highly developed planning and communication skills.
Sound knowledge of asset management techniques and associated skills (contracts, finance, economic evaluation, taxation UKCS fiscal regime, business strategy, etc.).
Good working knowledge of applicable corporate procedures and processes
