Orion Project Services has teamed up once again with a market-leading pharmaceutical company on an exciting contract opportunity. We are seeking an experienced Chemist II to join a collaborative laboratory team in North Chicago, IL. In this role, you will plan and execute laboratory studies, generate reliable and reproducible data, develop testing protocols, and support high-quality, GxP-compliant scientific work.

This opportunity is ideal for a skilled analytical chemist with hands-on experience using HPLC, GC, LC/MS, UV/VIS, ICP, and chromatography data systems such as Empower, OpenLab, or Chromeleon. The position offers a competitive rate of $32–$36 per hour, medical benefits available at a cost, and an initial one-year contract with the possibility of extension. This is a fully onsite role working Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional weekend hours.

Chemist II Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute assigned laboratory tasks utilizing standard procedures and technical understanding of various techniques to complete assigned tasks. 
• Independently generate precise, reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner. Document the experimentation per the regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrate experimental precision and strong data interpretation skills and should possess understanding of core discipline. 
• Develop protocols for more complex tests or experiments performed with less defined assays and parameters. 
• Ensures safety and GxP requirements are met when performing tasks. 
• Ensures timely and GxP compliant delivery of high-quality precise data.
• Apply basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and instrument related systems. 
• Presents findings of defined experiments to larger audiences.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• BS/BA in Chemistry, Chemical Engineer, Biochemistry, Medical Technology, Biology or related field with minimum 5 yrs lab experience (pharmaceutical industry preferred) or master’s degree with minimum 2 yrs lab experience (pharmaceutical industry preferred). 
• Experienced use of analytical instruments including HPLC, GC, LC/MS, and chromatography data systems (i.e., Empower, Openlab, Chromeleon). 
• Strong documentation skills, familiarity of GMP, GLP. Able to present experimental findings to larger groups. Strong communication skills.
• Solid use of instruments including HPLC, GC, UV/VIS, MS, ICP, etc.
