1 year initial contract with possibility of extension
Onsite in North Chicago, IL
Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Orion Group and our largest US client have an exciting contract opportunity for Chemists in North Chicago, IL! Our client is in immediate need of candidates with prior analytical lab experience and knowledge of analytical instrumentation and data systems.

Chemist II Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute assigned laboratory tasks utilizing standard procedures and technical understanding of various techniques to complete assigned tasks.
  • Independently generate precise, reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner. Document the experimentation per the regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate experimental precision and strong data interpretation skills and should possess understanding of core discipline.
  • Develop protocols for more complex tests or experiments performed with less defined assays and parameters.
  • Ensures safety and GxP requirements are met when performing tasks.
  • Ensures timely and GxP compliant delivery of high-quality precise data.
  • Apply basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and instrument related systems.
  • Presents findings of defined experiments to larger audiences.
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • BS/BA in Chemistry, Chemical Engineer, Biochemistry, Medical Technology or related field with minimum 5 yrs lab experience (pharmaceutical industry preferred) or master’s degree with minimum 2 yrs lab experience (pharmaceutical industry preferred).
  • Experienced use of analytical instruments including HPLC, GC, LC/MS, and chromatography data systems (i.e., Empower, Openlab, Chromeleon).
  • Strong documentation skills, familiarity of GMP, GLP. Able to present experimental findings to larger groups. Strong communication skills.
  • Required Skill 1: Solid use of instruments including HPLC, GC, UV/VIS, MS,ICP, etc.
  • Required Skill 2: Lab research experience (academic and / or industry) with proven-track record of presentations/publications
  • Required Skill 3: some familiarity of GMP and GLP and/or understanding of working in regulated environment
  • Required Skill 4: Able to present findings to larger groups. Strong communication skills.
  • Required Skill 5: Strong background in chemistry fundamentals.
