Change Management Consultant – Strategy & Transformation

Location: Mettawa, IL
Schedule: Hybrid – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday onsite | Monday & Friday remote
Duration: Initial 6-month contract with potential for extensions
$60-$65/hr based on benefit selection


 
Orion Group is seeking a Change Management Consultant to support a high-priority transformation initiative within our global pharmaceutical client's TAO Strategy & Transformation organization.
This role will be responsible for driving organizational change by developing strategic communications, executing change management plans, and partnering with cross-functional leaders to ensure successful adoption of key business initiatives.
The ideal candidate is an organized, proactive change management professional with strong communication skills, experience leading organizational change efforts, and the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Change Communications
  • Develop, edit, and manage executive and stakeholder communications, including emails, FAQs, talking points, leadership updates, and town hall materials.
  • Tailor messaging for diverse stakeholder groups across business functions and organizational levels.
  • Ensure consistent messaging, tone, and communication cadence throughout the transformation program.
Change Management
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive change management plans aligned with project milestones and implementation timelines.
  • Conduct stakeholder impact assessments, organizational readiness assessments, and change analyses.
  • Identify change-related risks, dependencies, and potential adoption barriers; develop mitigation strategies and proactively escalate issues when appropriate.
  • Create and maintain stakeholder engagement and change-tracking tools.
Execution & Collaboration
  • Partner closely with the Head of LOOP, Director of Strategy & Transformation, project managers, and cross-functional workstream leads.
  • Support the activation, engagement, and ongoing success of the organization's change champion network.
  • Coordinate change management activities to ensure successful implementation with minimal business disruption.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in change management, organizational transformation, communications, or related roles.
  • Experience supporting transformation initiatives within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or similarly regulated industries preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop executive-level communications and stakeholder messaging.
  • Experience applying structured change management methodologies such as Prosci (ADKAR), Kotter, or similar frameworks.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to independently develop, manage, and execute work plans.
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheet, Jira, or similar platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting enterprise-wide transformation or business process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience partnering with executive leadership and cross-functional business teams.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.
