Orion Project Services and our largest US client have an exciting contract opportunity for Biologists out of Worcester, MA. Our client is seeking motivated scientists to support several responsibilities including CHO cell line development pipelines, expression vector design, cell line engineering and genetic characterization of cell lines.
A strong candidate will have experience with molecular biology techniques, mammalian cell culture/aseptic technique, as well as exceptional attention to detail, demonstrated skills and productivity in laboratory research, and strong writing and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
- Characterize CHO cell lines using a variety of molecular biology techniques
- Contribute to expression vector design and construction
- Flow cytometry instrumentation operation and maintenance
- Maintain detailed, accurate, and clear documentation of experiments and activities.
- Effectively organize and communicate research progress and planned activities through oral and written presentations.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Cell Line Development group and across multiple functional areas of the Bioprocess Development and Launch department to advance the Biologics Pipeline.
- Contribute to the smooth and effective operation of the CHO Cell Line Development labs through the 5S program.
- Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, and GxP compliance.
- At Least a Bachelor’s Degree with 2+ years in Cell/Molecular Biology or a related field of relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture.
- Expertise in molecular biology techniques, including molecular cloning, PCR-based assays, gene expression analysis, and sequencing analysis.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with peers and cross-functional team members.
- Strong planning, multitasking, time management, and troubleshooting skills.
- Collaborative and proactive attitude with strong scientific curiosity, work ethic, and attention to detail.
- Experience with fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS).
- Knowledge of genome editing (CRISPR/Cas9, Zinc Finger Nucleases) and Next Generation Sequencing (Illumina, PacBio, Oxford Nanopore) technologies.
- Familiarity with sequence data analysis software (Geneious Prime), project management and workflow automation platforms (Smartsheet) and other data analysis tools.
- Experience with digital PCR assays, such as droplet.
