Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Buyer, based in Aberdeen. This will be a 12-month PAYE contract role. Candidates should have a strong background in asset / ops procurement as well as excellent working knowledge of SAP. 

Responsibilities:

Business Delivery
  • Proactively manage materials requirements for business area / assets assigned. Action requisitions, issue enquiries to suppliers, review and evaluate quotations using company e-procurement tool,
  • Procurement of materials, management of purchase orders and ensure timely delivery to meet business operational needs,
  • Liaise with suppliers to confirm orders, monitor and expedite deliveries, addressing any deviations or issues promptly,
  • Maintain accurate procurement data in SAP system, troubleshoot errors and ensure data integrity,
  • Address quality issues and co-ordinate effective and timely resolutions with suppliers and internal stakeholders,
  • Participate in tender exercises for material supply (as required) and providing supplier feedback,
  • Host monthly Technical Query (TQ) meeting with internal discipline engineers.
Relationship Management
  • Establish and maintain relationships within supply chain function, other key internal stakeholders in the business and external suppliers.
Specific Requirements:
  • Previous experience in Buyer role.
  • Hold and / or working towards relevant CIPS qualifications (preferrable but not essential if have sufficient experience).
  • Competence in use of MS office applications, with detail knowledge of SAP, Jaggaer or similar e-procurement systems.
  • Understanding of critical equipment for asset operations, projects (topsides and projects) and drilling / wells.
  • Strong organisation skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with high volume of activity and changing priorities to align with the needs of a dynamic business.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers. Willing to solve problems and deliver solutions in a timely manner.
  • Detail orientated with strong literacy and numeracy skills, commercially and financially aware.

  • Proven experience in procurement and expediting of materials within oil and gas industry (either Operator or Tier 1 contractor).
  • Detailed knowledge of procure-to-pay (P2P) processes and procurement tools (SAP, e-procurement systems and MS office applications).
  • Familiarity with legal terms and conditions for Purchase Orders (predominantly LOGIC Purchase Order terms) and knowledge of Incoterms.
  • Awareness of OEUK standards, UKCS regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Working and proactively engaging with internal business users at all levels in the organisation – operations, maintenance, drilling, wells etc, as well as strong external supplier relationships.
