Business Development Manager – Hydraulics

Orion Group are delighted to be retained on this exciting search with a global filtration manufacturer. This is an opportunity to take on a hands on leadership role within their Hydraulic Business Unit, driving growth and shaping the future of this expanding area of the business.

About the Role

As Business Development Manager, you’ll be responsible for growing sales and profit across the hydraulic product line in North America. This role combines strategy, business development, and team leadership. You’ll manage a small sales team while also being hands-on with customers, distribution partners, and new business opportunities. It’s a role for someone who enjoys building something, not just maintaining it.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Growing sales channels by building strong relationships with OEMs, distributors, and resellers.
  • Leading and developing a small sales team, including external sales and customer support.
  • Identifying new product opportunities and working closely with the wider business to bring them to market.
  • Developing strategies to expand across the US, Canada, and Mexico.
  • Working closely with global colleagues to align on strategy and share best practices.
What We’re Looking For
  • 7+ years’ experience selling technical products through distribution (hydraulics preferred).
  • Background in engineering, business, or marketing.
  • Experience building and managing sales teams.
  • Strong understanding of distribution networks and how to grow them.
  • Straightforward, open leadership style with a “hands-on” approach.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: resourceful, persistent, and commercially focused.
  • Willingness to travel across North America.
Why This Role?

You’ll be joining a business with global backing, but with the freedom to build and shape the hydraulic unit in North America. If you’re motivated by growth, enjoy leading from the front, and want the challenge of scaling a business, this is the perfect opportunity.

Our role in supporting diversity and inclusion
