Job Description:
The Precision Medicine group uses advanced methods to discover biomarkers for clinical trials. The Biomarker Sample Operations Associate III partners with operations managers, project managers, and laboratory managers to ensure timely receipt, transfer, and testing of clinical trial biomarker specimens in compliance with protocols, regulatory requirements, and project timelines. The role accessions and tracks samples in StarLIMS, including labeling, shipping, and storage, and works with laboratory managers and biomarker study management teams to complete tasks. It supports innovation and continuous improvement in biosample collection, processing, and transfer with minimal supervision.

Job Description:
The Precision Medicine group uses advanced methods to discover biomarkers for clinical trials. The Biomarker Sample Operations Associate III partners with operations managers, project managers, and laboratory managers to ensure timely receipt, transfer, and testing of clinical trial biomarker specimens in compliance with protocols, regulatory requirements, and project timelines. The role accessions and tracks samples in StarLIMS, including labeling, shipping, and storage, and works with laboratory managers and biomarker study management teams to complete tasks. It supports innovation and continuous improvement in biosample collection, processing, and transfer with minimal supervision.
- Receive and track incoming sample shipments, accession samples, and track them throughout their lifecycle using StarLIMS.
- Coordinate sample processing, labeling, and storage.
- Maintain sample storage equipment, including refrigerators, ultralow-temperature freezers, and liquid nitrogen (LN2) equipment. Monitor functionality and temperature.
- Coordinate sample analysis and data transfer. Pull inventory reports from databases and determine accurate lists of samples available for testing.
- Plan, organize, and ship biomarker samples from investigator sites or centralized locations to assay laboratories or company sites. Ensure timely shipments to vendors and storage sites.
- Manage laboratory vendor relationships, contribute to trial-specific documents, assess service-level commitments, and resolve or escalate issues promptly.
- Support project managers with vendor oversight in compliance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
- Partner with Clinical Operations, Biomarker Scientists, and IT to develop, implement, and manage sample tracking systems for assigned studies.
- Contribute to process and system improvements to ensure samples are appropriately collected, processed, analyzed, transported, stored, and destroyed.
- Reconcile data and samples stored in databases.
- Adhere to ICH/GCP, biorepository procedures, biosample management best practices, and ethical guidelines.
- Promote mutual respect, innovation, and accountability while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced team environment and working independently when needed.
- Master’s degree with 3+ years of project management experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of project management experience, with knowledge of oncology, including biomarkers, and/or clinical trial experience.
- Clinical trial experience, a scientific background, and knowledge of oncology.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and time management, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities; excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- PMP certification is a plus.
