About the opportunity:

All major programmes and projects need to collect, collate, manage, report and analyse data. The industry generally addresses this through excel based and bespoke solutions. Beyond slow and inconsistent set up, costs and poor data quality the latent value in data is untapped, not used or lost by close out.

This is an opportunity to work on an ambitious yet delivery focused Programme Data Services (PDS) initiative and service to effectively capture, manage and visualize data for our clients.

Typically, you will work within the Data Capture and Management workstream, leading on implementing Data Platforms. You will work with SMEs, Enterprise Architects, Product Managerss, the Digital Factory, and support teams to produce designs that fit into the technology vision of the business. You will incorporate a secure first mindset into every aspect of your work, understanding and validating the cost implications of your designs.

This will be a hands on role implementing the agreed architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Defining data architecture framework, standards and principles, including modelling, dimensional data modelling, metadata, security, 'data coding', reference data to support our Major Projects & Programmes
  • Defining a reference architecture, as pattern that others can follow to create and improve data systems;
  • Defining data flows, source to target mapping, i.e., which parts of the organization generate data, which require data to function, how data flows are managed, and how data changes in transition;
  • Hands on design, build and configuration of data platforms to an agreed reference architecture, including decentralised architectures (data mesh), leveraging cloud services to deliver against customer need in an Lean-agile manner

Essential Skills

  • Experience in implementing Master Data Management & Data Quality solutions and integrating these into enterprise data architectures and solutions.
  • Experience of defining data analytics, data reporting and business insight solutions.
  • Understanding of varied architectural patterns, including API and microservice, containerisation etc

Desirable Skills

  • Experience relevant to the engineering sector is a bonus; though you don't need to be an engineer to succeed here. Living and breathing digital is a must.
  • Detailed knowledge of architecture and data Frameworks (e.g. DAMA, TOGAF, ZACHMAN, DoDAF)
