Orion Group Life Sciences are currently recruiting an Associate Scientist (HPLC) on behalf of our Multinational Biopharmaceutical Client based in Westport on an initial 12-Month contract with potential to extend.
20% shift: monthly rotating days/evenings
• Days are 07:00 – 15:30 or 08:00 – 16:30 and Evenings are 15:00 – 23:00 or 16:00 – 00:00.
Candidate can choose which rota but 07:00 start on days will correspond to 15:00 start on evenings, 08:00 start on days will correspond to 16:00 start on evenings.
Responsibilities:
• Completely follow established experimental protocols and assess results with supervision.
• Recognize and report experimental variances.
• Learn and effectively implement new experimental protocols and/or techniques.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and optimize laboratory operations for efficient use of time and laboratory supplies and reagents, when appropriate.
• Perform routine tasks competently and independently and generate reliable and consistent results.
• Analyse and critique results, noting significant deviations.
• Learn and understand new experimental techniques.
• Demonstrate technical proficiency in his/her field. Demonstrate skill in multiple techniques and appropriately modify protocols, as required, to suit the changing needs of research or development sciences.
• Troubleshoot experiments and instrumentation. Impact projects mostly through lab and/or pilot plant-based activities.
• Apply basic scientific principles to research.
• Consult literature to understand scientific purpose of assignments. Impact projects predominantly through lab and/or pilot plant-based activities. Place data in proper scientific context by consulting and citing relevant literature.
• Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent education, with typically 6-12 months experience or Master’s Degree or equivalent education (no additional experience).
• Theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out job function.
• GMP Experience
• Experience in procurement and/or shipping and/or sample management
• Ability to work independently
• Experience with simple chemistry techniques preferable (i.e. pH, osmolality, physical appearance testing)
• HPLC and/or ELISA experience preferable
