Orion Group Life Sciences are looking for an Associate Lab Specialist QC – Transfers for our Multinational Pharmaceutical client based in Boxmeer. Contract until end 2026. This is a fully onsite position.
The team
Quality Control Operations (QCO) is a dynamic team that supports all production departments at their Animal Health site in Boxmeer by ensuring the timely execution of all quality control tests.
Quality Control Operations is responsible for all physical, chemical, biological, and microbiological testing of finished vaccine and pharmaceutical products, antigens, raw materials, APIs, and primary packaging materials at the Boxmeer site.
What will you do
The Associate Lab Specialist (Quality Control Transfers) is responsible for the successful transfer of reproducible, high-quality tests using a standard transfer methodology. This responsibility may involve introducing new tests from R&D for new products or transferring existing tests to or from another site of our client.
The QC transfer team is responsible for performing a wide range of biological and analytical tests on vaccine intermediates and finished products. Ultimately, the goal is the successful transfer of one or more tests—whether from R&D or another site of our client—to Quality Control Operations within the established timeframe.
They operate under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure consistent quality and reliability in our tests and products. Additionally, they make extensive use of Lean Six Sigma tools to solve and prevent problems in a structured, team-based manner and to drive continuous improvement.

Main Responsibilities of the role
- Subject matter expert in various biological and analytical testing techniques.
- Knowledgeable regarding all aspects of the transfer process.
- Responsible for meeting transfer timelines, including escalating issues if these are at risk.
- Responsible for the effective handover to the QC lab that will perform commercial batch release.
- Leading or participating in transfer projects on behalf of QC.
- Participating in R&D test development projects on behalf of QC.
- Hands-on execution of transfer testing and support testing for post-transfer samples.
- Point of contact for the QC Operations (QCO) department regarding deviations, changes, audits, training, and documentation in accordance with applicable GMP procedures.
- You hold at least a completed Bachelor’s degree (HBO) in a laboratory field such as (micro)biology or analytical chemistry.
- You have at least 5 years of work experience, preferably in a biological QC lab.
- You have demonstrable specialist experience in a GMP or GLP environment, preferably in a QC lab and/or pharmaceutical production setting.
- Experience with change management and/or project management is preferred.
- Yellow Belt certification and/or experience with Lean/Six Sigma tools (such as problem-solving and Kaizen, including taking a leadership role in these areas) is preferred.
- You have extensive experience with data analysis and root cause investigations regarding deviations.
- Experience with SAP/LIMS and electronic data processing in QC testing systems is preferred.
- You are accurate, quality-oriented, and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
- You are a team player who takes initiative and sets an example for others.
- You are able to maintain an overview in a complex environment, prioritize tasks, identify issues or escalate when necessary, and act proactively.
- You possess strong verbal and written communication skills (including technical writing) in both English (a must) and Dutch (preferred, but not a must).
