Asset Manager - Utility-scale Wind

The Opportunity

We are working with one of North America’s leading privately owned renewable energy companies to recruit an experienced Asset Manager specialising in utility-scale wind.

This is a commercially focused position with responsibility for maximising the operational and financial performance of a portfolio of operating wind projects.

Acting as the commercial owner of the assets, you will work across operations, engineering, finance, trading and external partners to improve availability, generation, revenue and EBITDA. You will also play an important role in integrating and optimising newly acquired wind assets.

The Role

As Asset Manager, you will take day-to-day ownership of a portfolio of utility-scale wind generation assets.

You will monitor operational and financial performance, lead budgeting and forecasting activities, manage key project agreements and identify opportunities to improve asset value. This will include addressing technical underperformance, evaluating market and curtailment exposure, managing commercial obligations and supporting major maintenance and capital-investment decisions.

The position would suit an experienced renewable energy professional who combines a strong understanding of wind operations with commercial judgement, financial capability and a data-driven approach to asset optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day commercial management of a portfolio of operating utility-scale wind assets.
• Take ownership of asset performance, including availability, generation, revenue, EBITDA and budget delivery.
• Monitor operational and financial KPIs, investigating variances and identifying opportunities to improve reliability and profitability.
• Develop and manage annual operating budgets, forecasts, variance analysis and long-term business plans.
• Lead financial and operational optimisation initiatives to ensure assets meet or exceed investment objectives.
• Oversee contractual obligations under O&M agreements, turbine supply agreements, PPAs, interconnection agreements, leases and landowner agreements.
• Work closely with operations and engineering teams to resolve performance issues and minimise downtime.
• Evaluate market exposure, curtailment, congestion, pricing impacts and revenue-enhancement opportunities.
• Support lender, investor, partner and internal management reporting.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives relating to major maintenance, capital projects, warranty matters and asset-lifecycle planning.
• Build effective relationships with operators, OEMs, counterparties, ISOs/RTOs, consultants, landowners and other external stakeholders.
• Support the onboarding and integration of newly acquired wind projects.
• Identify and implement improvements to asset-management processes, reporting and performance monitoring.

About You

You will ideally have:

• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Business or another relevant discipline.
• At least five years of renewable energy asset-management experience.
• Significant experience managing or supporting operating utility-scale wind assets.
• A strong understanding of wind operations, availability, generation metrics and asset-optimisation strategies.
• Proven financial and commercial capability, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial performance management.
• Experience working within North American power markets such as ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP or CAISO.
• Knowledge of renewable energy project structures and agreements, including PPAs, O&M agreements and interconnection agreements.
• The ability to interpret operational and financial data and translate findings into practical improvement initiatives.
• Strong commercial judgement, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
• The confidence to operate independently while coordinating priorities across multiple internal and external teams.
• The ability to manage several assets and competing priorities within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Preferred Experience

The following would be particularly valuable:

• Experience integrating acquired renewable energy assets into an established operating portfolio.
• Knowledge of merchant power markets, hedging strategies and revenue optimisation.
• Experience evaluating curtailment, congestion, basis risk and market-pricing impacts.
• Familiarity with SCADA systems, performance analytics and renewable asset-reporting platforms.
• Experience managing major maintenance programmes, capital projects or turbine lifecycle initiatives.
• An MBA, CFA designation or other advanced commercial, financial or technical qualification.
