Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Area Authority. This is a staff core crew role on a 2/3. The preference is for experience of FPSOs in the North Sea.
 
Overview:
 
Experienced and safety-focused Area Authority to expand and strengthen the team.   This is a key operational role responsible for controlling activities within an assigned area through the Control of Work process.   You will coordinate permitted work, isolations and simultaneous operations, maintain a clear understanding of plant status, and ensure activities are prepared and completed safely and efficiently.
 
Responsibilities:
Acting as Area Authority within the Control of Work process
Reviewing, coordinating and authorising permitted activities
Maintaining oversight of plant status, isolations, operational hazards and simultaneous operations
Supporting safe work on hydrocarbon-processing plant, utilities, marine systems, power-generation equipment and integrated control and safety systems
Managing the safe reinstatement of plant following intrusive maintenance.
Aligning Control of Work preparation with 28-day, 90-day and turnaround plans
Conducting worksite visits, monitoring and audits to confirm compliance with Control of Work requirements
Applying process-safety principles and maintaining awareness of major accident hazards and performance standards
Managing interfaces between disciplines to minimise operational and simultaneous-operations risk
Supporting effective resource use, identifying potential cost concerns and highlighting opportunities to reduce waste
Capturing lessons learned and maintaining high-quality permit records
Coaching offshore personnel to build their Control of Work knowledge and competence
Carrying out duties allocated under the installation’s Emergency Response Plan
Supporting additional operational activities and projects when required.
 
 
Essential qualifications and experience:
HND recognised trade qualification or equivalent technical experience
Strong knowledge of hydrocarbon-processing facilities and utility systems
Practical experience of Control of Work, permit-to-work and plant-isolation processes in an offshore or major-hazard environment
Understanding of process-safety management, major accident hazards and performance standards
Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary work and simultaneous operations
Awareness of integrated asset planning and incident-investigation techniques
Valid certification for working offshore in the UK North Sea
 
Desirable experience:
Previous experience as an Area Authority, operations supervisor or in a comparable Control of Work role
Working knowledge of FPSO operations and marine interfaces
Familiarity with integrated control and safety systems, power generation, marine, subsea and diving, drilling and well-intervention activities
Previous team-lead, supervisory or coaching experience
