Orion Group Life Sciences are currently recruiting an Analytical Associate Scientist (R&D) on behalf of our Multinational Biopharmaceutical Client based in Meath on an initial 11-month contract with potential to extend.
This is an onsite, day-based role.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Analytical Associate Scientist (R&D) within a state-of-the-art biologics manufacturing and laboratory environment. This role supports biologics drug substance manufacturing for clinical supply, registration, and commercial launch, operating within a highly collaborative and technology-driven setting.

Role Overview
This individual will work closely with Enabling Technology, Engineering, Analytical, Microbiology Lab Operations, and Manufacturing Operations to support laboratory readiness, process establishment, and the adoption of Process Analytical Technology (PAT). The role requires flexibility to support evolving business needs and close alignment with operational priorities.

Role Overview
This individual will work closely with Enabling Technology, Engineering, Analytical, Microbiology Lab Operations, and Manufacturing Operations to support laboratory readiness, process establishment, and the adoption of Process Analytical Technology (PAT). The role requires flexibility to support evolving business needs and close alignment with operational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Bring energy, knowledge, and innovation to carry out the following:
- Support laboratory operations, including equipment qualification (PQ), SOP and work instruction generation, and laboratory/process establishment
- Perform routine laboratory operations and “run the business” activities such as environmental monitoring, facility testing, method verification, troubleshooting, and execution of laboratory studies
- Review, trend, and report laboratory data to support batch documentation and quarterly/year-end reporting
- Manage laboratory stock, including ordering consumables, maintaining inventory, and supporting release activities
- Ensure routine cleaning of laboratory equipment is completed in line with site procedures and maintain high housekeeping standards
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within laboratory processes
- Respond to standard requests from internal stakeholders, escalating to management where appropriate
- Actively participate in functional and cross-functional meetings, audits (internal and external), and inspections
- Support site safety culture and standard ways of working
- Support the introduction and testing of novel and innovative analytical solutions for biologics testing
- Build team effectiveness by promoting collaboration, respect, and inclusion
- Support timely training completion and provide coaching where required
- Maintain flexibility to support changing business needs, including infrequent out-of-hours testing for exceptional circumstances
Skills & Experience Required
To excel in this role, you will likely have:
- A degree in a relevant discipline (Biological Sciences or Engineering preferred; microbiology background advantageous)
- Minimum of 1+ years’ experience in a relevant academic or industry setting (internships and student placements considered)
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of biologics manufacturing and familiarity with microbiological testing techniques
- Experience with laboratory systems such as LIMS, electronic logs, MODA, or electronic notebooks
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think logically and work proactively under pressure
- Good knowledge of GMP and familiarity with USP, EP, and JP requirements
