The Site Representative role is part of the Shah Deniz Compression (SDC) project Subsea Construction team and is responsible for providing on‑site oversight of supplier manufacturing, fabrication, testing, preservation, and logistics activities associated with subsea equipment and materials.
The role acts as bp’s representative at supplier facilities and during transportation phases, ensuring that work is executed safely, in compliance with approved procedures, specifications, and quality requirements, and that equipment is delivered to Baku in accordance with agreed schedules and logistics plans.
The position is primarily site‑based and requires close interaction with suppliers, logistics contractors, and internal project stakeholders to support safe, compliant, and timely delivery of subsea construction scopes.
Key Accountabilities:
· Demonstrate strong personal HSSE leadership and promote bp HSE expectations during supplier manufacturing, testing, and logistics activities, including participation in site safety meetings, audits, and inspections.
· Provide day‑to‑day site representation at supplier facilities, overseeing fabrication, assembly, testing, preservation, packing, and load‑out activities to verify compliance with approved procedures, drawings, and bp
specifications.
· Contractor/vendor on-site performance management and provide regular daily progress updates to the project team.
· Monitor and verify supplier adherence to quality plans, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and manufacturing schedules, raising concerns and supporting resolution of non‑conformances where required.
· Act as bp’s focal point at site for coordination between suppliers, quality, engineering, logistics, and project teams, promoting a “one team” approach.
· Support risk identification and mitigation during manufacturing and transportation phases, including participation in readiness reviews, HAZIDs, and logistics risk assessments.
· Oversee preparation, packing, preservation, and transportation of subsea equipment and materials to Baku, ensuring alignment with approved transportation and lifting procedures.
· Interface with logistics and transport contractors to monitor readiness, execution, and delivery performance, highlighting potential schedule or quality risks to the project team.
· Support Management of Change (MoC) processes by identifying site‑driven changes and providing input on execution and logistics impacts.
· Capture lessons learned from supplier and logistics activities and support continuous improvement across the Subsea Construction team.
Essential Education
· Education and professional course/certification related to technical subjects.
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Marine, or equivalent discipline) is preferable but not essential
Essential Experience and Job Requirements
· Minimum 15 years proven experience in site‑based oversight of supplier manufacturing and fabrication activities within the oil and gas or offshore energy sector.
· Specific experience in flexible/cable product spooling and unspooling operations.
· Previous experience with spool/MBWJ fabrication
· Demonstrated experience overseeing logistics, packing, and transportation of engineered products and equipment to Baku or comparable international project locations.
· Familiarity with mission specific equipment required for handling and spooling of flexible produts
· Familiarity with international codes and standards (e.g. API, DNV, AWS) and company specifications relevant to subsea equipment and fabrication.
· Minimum 15 years proven experience working in a maritime ports and yard environment, with significant exposure to fabrication, manufacturing, testing, and load‑out and lifting activities.
· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to represent bp effectively at supplier sites.
· Fluent in spoken and written English and medically fit for site‑based construction and inspection activities.
Desirable Criteria:
· Prior experience on major subsea or offshore construction projects, preferably with bp or within the Caspian region.
· Familiarity with bp OMS, quality management, Self Verification & oversight process and general construction surveillance practices.
