Orion Site Medlink (OSM) respond to an increasing demand for skilled Filipino workers.
In recent years the Philippines has emerged as a leading manpower source for employers from around the world. Skilled Filipino workers can be found working in almost any country on all types of projects - from oil fields in Russia to providing the skilled labour for mining operations in Africa. A large number of construction projects in the Middle East have also been developed with the help of Filipino engineers and technical workers.
For many years the Philippines suffered from poor economic management and did not benefit from the commercial growth experienced across other areas of the Asia Pacific region. Driven by the remittances sent back to the country from overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), today the Philippines is among the fastest growing economies in Asia. Sadly this inflow of capital has not resulted in enough local jobs for skilled Filipino workers and high unemployment remains among a number of serious issues for the country. This shortage of local employment opportunities means that many skilled Filipino’s seek work overseas.
Orion Site Medlink (OSM) International Resourcing is a joint venture between Orion Group, Medlink International and Site Skills Training facility with the common aim of setting up a full-service, fully licensed employment company in the Philippines. The partnership can deliver a variety of training and assessments, coordinate health checks and visa’s for workers as well as provide other business services to clients such as HR and payroll.
Allen Tyson, Regional Director for the Asia Pacific Region has high ambitions for the OSM partnership. “In 2015, we aim to be one of the top POEA (Philippine Overseas Employment Administration) licensed recruitment agencies and we will achieve this by continuing to deliver a world-class service to our clients and by practicing an ethical model as far as the recruitment of our Filipino workers is concerned.
“We always ensure that our workers can deliver on the demands of a project, but we also strongly believe that the conditions must be right for the workers. The welfare of our Filipino workers is vital to the business, and we want to work with people who have the same ethos.”
In 2015, skilled Filipino workers will continue to be in high demand for oil & gas, construction and petrochemical projects overseas. As a POEA licensed agency, OSM are ideally positioned to recruit, train and deploy manpower from the region - to projects anywhere in the world.
