Shell Prelude Project (Western Australia)
Shell's Prelude Project (above) is not only the largest floating offshore facility ever constructed, it is also the world's first Floating Liquefied Natural Gas
(FLNG) platform. The FLNG technologies developed for Prelude are also
the 'first of a kind’ and will enable access to offshore gas fields that
would otherwise be too difficult to access.

Weighing in at over 59,000 tons, the Thunder Horse semi-submersible
Production, Drilling and Quarters (PDQ) facility is still among the
largest platforms of its kind in the world. Five decks stretch 15
stories above the water's surface. Jet engines that typically would be
found on an airliner drive five turbines to power the facility - enough
electricity for 80,000 homes onshore.
